Buckingham Palace
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at Welshpool Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Powys (the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke) and the Mayor of Welshpool (Councillor Miss Ann Holloway).
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Welshpool Livestock Market, Buttington Cross, Buttington, near Welshpool, and were received by the Senior Partner, Welshpool Livestock Sales Limited (Mr John Jones) and Mr Keith Davies (Partner).
The Queen, escorted by Mr Jones, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Mr Davies, toured the Market, meeting members of staff and livestock owners, and viewed the new auction room and the livestock.
Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, afterwards opened the Market Village in the Town Hall, Broad Street, Welshpool.
The Queen, escorted by the Mayor of Welshpool, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by Councillor Miss Estelle Blevias (Deputy Mayor), toured the Market Village, viewing the stalls and meeting the owners, and viewed the Farmers’ Market.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness walked to the Royal Oak Hotel at the Cross and were entertained to Luncheon by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Powys this afternoon.
Clarence House
The Prince of Wales, Colonel-in-Chief, The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) of Canada, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Daniel O’Connor (Honorary Lieutenant Colonel) and Lieutenant Colonel Bruno Plourde (Commanding Officer).
His Royal Highness afterwards received Major General Matthew Sykes who is relinquishing his appointment as Defence Services Secretary and Air Vice Marshal David Murray who is assuming the appointment.
The Prince of Wales this afternoon held a Meeting of The Prince’s Charities Council at Clarence House.
His Royal Highness this evening gave a Dinner for The Prince’s Charities Council at St. James’s Palace.
The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, St John’s Smith Square Charitable Trust, this afternoon received Sir Nicholas Underhill upon assuming his appointment as Chairman.

The Duke of York today visited North Yorkshire and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (the Lord Crathorne).
His Royal Highness this morning visited Goodricke College, the University of York, Heslington, York.
The Duke of York afterwards visited the Jorvik Centre, Coppergate Walk, York.
His Royal Highness, Patron, York Minster Appeal, this afternoon visited York Minster.
The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, later visited Swinton Technology, York Road Business Park, Malton.
His Royal Highness afterwards visited Ellis Patents, High Street, Rillington.

The Earl of Wessex this morning attended a Conference for young film makers in support of “Films Without Borders” at 750 MPH Limited Studio, 20 Golden Square, London W1.
His Royal Highness this evening held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace in support of “Films Without Borders”.
The Countess of Wessex, Patron, Chase Hospice Care for Children, this afternoon held a Meeting.

The Princess Royal, Patron, this afternoon visited Lattitude Global Volunteering, 42 Queen’s Road, Reading, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (the Hon Mrs Bayliss).
Her Royal Highness, Patron, Wooden Spoon Society, later opened a play room at Camp Mohawk, Highfield Lane, Crazies Hill, Wargrave, Berkshire.
