Buckingham Palace

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this afternoon opened the Joint Headquarters Building in Sandy Lane, Northwood, Middlesex, and was received by the Chief of Joint Operations (Air Marshal Sir Stuart Peach).

Her Majesty, escorted by the Chief of Joint Operations, and His Royal Highness, escorted by Major General Roderick Porter (Chief of Staff, Joint Warfare Development), toured the building and met operations staff.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Fellow, the Royal Society, this morning received Dr. Peter Collins (Director, Centre for History of Science) at Buckingham Palace.

His Royal Highness, Founder and Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association, today attended a Reception for new Trustees at Award House, St. Matthew Street, London SW1.

By command of The Queen, Mr. Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Vahe Gabrielyan at 25a Cheniston Gardens, London W8, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Armenia to the Court of St. James’s.

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, today carried out the following engagements in Bahrain.

His Royal Highness this morning called upon the Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Dr. Essam Abdulla Yousif Fakhro).

The Duke of York afterwards called upon Dr. Hassan Fakhro (Minister of Industry and Commerce).

His Royal Highness later called upon Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa (Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain).

The Duke of York this afternoon attended a Lunch given by the Bahrain British Business Forum at the British Club and inaugurated the new extension at the Club.

His Royal Highness later called upon Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Khalifa (Minister of Finance).

The Duke of York this evening attended a Business Reception given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain (His Excellency Mr. James Bowden).

His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Dinner given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Bahrain at the British Embassy for representatives of the construction industry.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, today attended a Reception for new Trustees followed by a Meeting at Award House, St. Matthew Street, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Chairman of the International Council, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association, this afternoon held a Meeting at Award House.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this evening held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace.

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, the Peckham Settlement, this morning held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, Chairman, Women in Business, this afternoon held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess Royal, Member, International Olympic Committee, this morning received Sir Craig Reedie (Executive Board Member).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the Horse Trust, received Mr. Guy Henderson (Chairman) and Brigadier Paul Jepson (Chief Executive).

The Princess Royal, Royal Patron, HF Trust Limited, this afternoon attended a Reception for the Inventing Dishes — European Art Project at the Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, Motor Neurone Disease Association, afterwards held a Thirtieth Anniversary Volunteers’ Reception at St. James’s Palace.

The Duke of Gloucester, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Anglian Regiment, this morning visited Oakham School, Chapel Close, Market Place, Oakham, to mark the Centenary of the School’s Combined Cadet Force, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Rutland (Dr. Laurence Howard).
