Buckingham Palace
The Queen, Visitor, Westminster Abbey, and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Service of Thanksgiving in the Abbey on the occasion of the Four Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the granting of a Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I and were received at the Great West Door by the Dean of Westminster (the Very Reverend Dr. John Hall) and the Chapter.
After the Service Her Majesty and His Royal Highness viewed the renovation work being carried out on the Coronation Chair in St. George’s Chapel.
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, subsequently viewed children’s activities before opening the Abbey’s new Education Centre at 1 Dean’s Yard.
Her Majesty, Visitor, and His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Westminster School, Little Dean’s Yard, to mark the Four Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the granting of the School’s Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I and were received by the Head Master (Dr. Stephen Spurr) and Dr. Gary Savage (Under Master).
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Head Master and Under Master, moved into College Garden and viewed the new commemorative herb garden which has been planted by the pupils.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were subsequently entertained to Luncheon with members of the Abbey and the School by the Head Master in College Hall.
The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Prince of Wales, President, the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, this afternoon received Friends of Il Fondo per l’Ambiente Italiano — the National Trust of Italy.
The Duchess of Cornwall this morning presented Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Medallions at Guildhall, London EC2.
Kensington Palace
The Duke of Gloucester this morning presented the Freemasons New Zealand University Scholarship Awards at Wellington Town Hall, 111 Wakefield Street, Wellington, New Zealand.
His Royal Highness, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, this evening opened the St John Ambulance New Zealand One Hundred and Twenty Fifth Anniversary Convention at Christchurch Convention Centre, 95 Kilmore Street, Christchurch.
