COURT CIRCULAR

Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by The Princess Royal, this morning attended a Service in St Giles’ Cathedral for the Installation of the Lord Hope of Craighead and the Lord Patel as Knights of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses were received at St Giles’ Cathedral by the Chancellor of the Thistle (the Earl of Airlie) and the Dean of the Thistle and Minister of St Giles’ (the Very Reverend Gilleasbuig Macmillan).

Andrew Leeming (Page of Honour to The Queen) was in attendance.

A Guard of Honour was mounted in Parliament Square West by The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, with the Colours of the Royal Company, under the command of Lieutenant, General Sir Jeremy Mackenzie, and accompanied by the Lowland Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Lunch Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for the Knights of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

The following were invited: the Earl and Countess of Airlie, Lady Marion Fraser and Sir William Fraser, the Lord and Lady Macfarlane of Bearsden, the Lord and Lady Mackay of Clashfern, the Lord and Lady Wilson of Tillyorn, the Lord and Lady Sutherland of Houndwood, Sir Eric and Lady Anderson, the Lord and Lady Steel of Aikwood, the Lord and Lady Robertson of Port Ellen, the Lord and Lady Cullen of Whitekirk, Sir Garth and Lady Morrison, the Lord and Lady Hope of Craighead, the Lord and Lady Patel, the Very Reverend Gilleasbuig Macmillan (Dean of the Thistle), Mr David Sellar (Secretary and Lord Lyon King of Arms), Rear Admiral Christopher Layman (Gentleman Usher of the Green Rod), Mrs Christopher Roads (Assistant Secretary, Order of the Thistle) and Andrew Leeming (Page of Honour to The Queen).

Her Majesty left the Palace of Holyroodhouse this afternoon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Sir Alan Reid (Keeper of the Privy Purse) at the Funeral of Sir Edmund Grove (formerly Chief Accountant of the Privy Purse) which was held in the Church of St Peter and St Paul, West Newton, Norfolk, this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales was represented by Mr Marcus O’Lone.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales this morning held a Meeting at Clarence House for Families United and Youth United.

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, Army Air Corps, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Michael Smith upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 1 Regiment and Lieutenant Colonel James Anderson upon assuming the appointment.

The Prince of Wales, President, the Royal Agricultural College, this evening held the Food and Farming Summer School Gala Dinner.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this morning visited British Petroleum Exploration, Farburn Industrial Estate, Dyce, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Aberdeen (Councillor Peter Stephen, the Lord Provost).

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, President, Central Council of Physical Recreation, this morning attended the Annual General Meeting and Lunch at St James’s Palace.

His Royal Highness, Patron, New Marlowe Theatre Campaign, later held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

The Countess of Wessex this afternoon opened the Abbeyfield Westbourne House, 22 Poole Road, Bournemouth, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (Mrs Anthony PittRivers).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Tomorrow’s People, later visited the Junction Project at the Royal Hospital Haslar, Haslar Road, Gosport, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

The Countess of Wessex afterwards opened the Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Exhibition in the Great Hall, the Castle, Winchester, Hampshire.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal this afternoon opened a Thermal Energy Plant at Locher Works, Kilbarchan Road, Bridge of Weir, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Renfrewshire (Mr Guy Clark).

Her Royal Highness later opened a new building at Life Technologies, 3 Fountain Drive, Inchinnan, Renfrew.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Anglian Regiment, this morning visited the 2nd Battalion at Trenchard Barracks, Celle, Germany.

His Royal Highness this afternoon took the salute at the Freedom Parade on the Stechbahn, Celle, and afterwards attended a Reception at the Neues Rathaus, Celle.

The Duke of Gloucester this evening arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Germany.

Captain Ben Sempala-Ntege was in attendance.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Colonel, Scots Guards, today visited the 1st Battalion in Lashkah Gah, Afghanistan.

His Royal Highness later laid a wreath at the Herrick Memorial, Camp Bastion.
