Buckingham Palace

The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Hon Donald Ethell was received by The Queen this afternoon upon his appointment as Lieutenant Governor of Alberta.

Mrs Ethell was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Caroline Spelman MP (Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), the Rt Hon Michael Moore MP (Secretary of State for Scotland) and the Rt Hon David Willett MP (Minister of State, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills).

The Rt Hon Nigel Dodds MP, the Rt Hon Alexander Fergusson MP, the Rt Hon Mark Francois MP, the Rt Hon John Randall MP and Admiral the Lord West of Spithead were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt Hon Joan Ruddock MP made affirmation as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

Miss Judith Simpson was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of Her Majesty this evening.

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this morning attended a Forum for Vietnamese entrepreneurs at the British Consulate-General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

His Royal Highness, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this afternoon attended a Meeting for representatives of the oil, gas and mining sectors at the Park Hyatt Hotel, Ho Chi Minh City.

The Duke of York, this afternoon departed Tan Son Nhut Airport, Ho Chi Minh City, for Singapore and was received later on arrival at Changi International Airport by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Singapore (His Excellency Mr Paul Madden).

His Royal Highness, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this evening attended a Dinner for representatives of the British business community given by the British High Commissioner at Eden Hall.

The Earl of Wessex, Vice Patron, the Commonwealth Games Federation, this morning held a Meeting with the Scottish Council for Development and Industry at the Meridien Hotel, Delhi, India.

His Royal Highness, Vice Patron, the Commonwealth Games Federation, later viewed Doubles Table Tennis competitions and Para Table Tennis competitions at the Yamuan Sports Complex, Delhi.

The Earl of Wessex, Vice Patron, the Commonwealth Games Federation, this afternoon viewed Boxing competitions and presented the Bantamweight Medals at the Talkatora Stadium for Boxing, Delhi.

His Royal Highness, Vice Patron, the Commonwealth Games Federation, this evening attended a Dinner given by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of India (His Excellency Sir Richard Stagg) at the British High Commission in Delhi.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Medical Research Council Mitochondrial Biology Unit, this morning attended the annual Symposium at Wellcome Trust Conference Centre, Hinxton, Saffron Walden, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr Hugh Duberly).

Her Royal Highness, President, National Equine Forum, this afternoon attended an Organising Committee Meeting at the Kennel Club, 1-5 Clarges Street, London W1.

The Princess Royal, President, the Mission to Seafarers, accompanied by Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, later attended the Annual National Service for Seafarers in St Paul’s Cathedral, London EC4.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester today visited Manchester and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester (Mr Warren Smith).

His Royal Highness this morning opened Heywood Sports Village, West Starkey Street, Heywood.

The Duke of Gloucester today opened Rochdale Sixth Form College, College Road, Rochdale.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Dunphy Combustion Ltd, Queensway, Rochdale.

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards officially opened the United Kingdom Headquarters of Vindon Scientific, Kingsway West Business Park, Rochdale.

The Duchess of Gloucester, this afternoon visited Micklefield School, Reigate, to mark its Centenary, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Surrey (Mrs Timothy Goad).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, later officially opened “the Henry Dawes Centre” classroom block at St John’s School, Epsom Road, Leatherhead, Surrey.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Patron, Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Foundation Trust, this afternoon opened the Respiratory Biomedical Research Unit at Royal Brompton Hospital, Sydney Street, London SW3.
