Buckingham Palace

The following were received in audience by The Queen today and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Peter Hughes (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) and Mr. Martin Harris (Romania).

Mrs Linda MacLachlan was also received by Her Majesty.

Ms Jennifer Anderson was received in audience by The Queen upon her appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Botswana.

Mr Stephen Ashworth was also received by Her Majesty.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Reception at Buckingham Palace this evening for Lieutenant Governors of the Crown Dependencies.

The Duke of Edinburgh, President, the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, this morning received Mr Luke Johnson (Chairman) and Mr Matthew Taylor (Chief Executive).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Baroness Anelay of St Johns (Government Chief Whip, House of Lords) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Lord Walker of Worcester (formerly Secretary of State for Wales) which was held in Westminster Abbey this morning.

The Duke of Kent was represented by Mr Nicolas Adamson.

The Prince of Wales, President, Arts and Business, this morning received Mr Colin Tweedy (Chief Executive).

His Royal Highness this afternoon received the Rt Hon George Osborne MP (Chancellor of the Exchequer).

The Prince of Wales, Colonel-in-Chief, The Mercian Regiment, afterwards received Lieutenant Colonel Richard Spiby upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Giles Woodhouse upon assuming the appointment, and Lieutenant Colonel Martyn Forgrave upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 4th Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Dominic Wilford upon assuming the appointment.

His Royal Highness, President, held a Reception for donors to The Prince’s Regeneration Trust at St. James’s Palace.

The Prince of Wales subsequently received Mr Marc Bolland (Chief Executive, Marks and Spencer Plc).

His Royal Highness received Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Princess Amira al-Taweel of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Prince of Wales, President, this evening held a Dinner for donors to The Prince’s Regeneration Trust at St James’s Palace.

The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment at Hyde Park Barracks, Knightsbridge, London SW7.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, St John’s Smith Square Charitable Trust, and Patron, the New Queen’s Hall Orchestra, this evening attended a Concert at St. John’s Smith Square, London SW1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

The Prince of Wales was represented by the Lord Morris of Aberavon at the Memorial Service for the Earl Lloyd George of Dwyfor which was held in the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1, this afternoon.

The Duke of York, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, today carried out the following engagements.

His Royal Highness this morning visited Universal Engineering, 18 Cumberland Drive, Granby Industrial Estate, Weymouth, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (Mrs Anthony Pitt-Rivers).

The Duke of York this afternoon attended a Business Lunch at Northrop Grumman Information Systems Europe, Leander House, 4600 Parkway, Solent Business Park, Fareham, and was received by Rear Admiral Iain Henderson (Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire).

His Royal Highness later visited Accuracy International, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

The Duke of York afterwards visited the Sustainable Energy Research Group, Wave and Tidal Energy Project at the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment, University of Southampton, Highfield Campus, Southampton.

His Royal Highness this evening attended the Annual Banquet of the Royal Warrant Holders Association at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London W1.

The Earl of Wessex this morning arrived at Tbilisi International Airport and was received by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Georgia (Her Excellency Ms Judith Gough).

His Royal Highness later attended a Meeting at the British Embassy, 51 Krtsanisi Street, Tbilisi.

The Earl of Wessex afterwards visited British Petroleum Pumping Station 1 in Gardabani.

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Luncheon for ministers and business leaders, given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Georgia at the Radisson Blue Iveria, Rose Square, Tbilisi.

The Earl of Wessex later officially opened the new British Embassy at 51 Krtsanisi Street, Tbilisi.

The Countess of Wessex, Grand President, St John Ambulance in the Priory of England and the Islands, this afternoon held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Chase Hospice Care for Children, this evening attended the Chase Art Exhibition at the Royal College of Art, Kensington Gore, London SW7.

The Princess Royal, Master, the Worshipful Company of Butchers, this morning attended a Court Meeting and Luncheon at Butchers’ Hall, 87 Bartholomew Close, London EC1.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, this afternoon received Mr David Harker upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive and Mrs Gillian Guy upon assuming the appointment.

The Right Reverend John Gladwin (Chairman of the Trustees) was present.

The Princess Royal, Patron, this evening attended a Reception at the Palace of Westminster, London SW1, to mark the Twenty Fifth Anniversary of the Vine Trust.

Her Royal Highness, President, Animal Health Trust, afterwards attended the Equestrian Awards Dinner at the Lancaster London, Lancaster Terrace, London W2.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened Hindlip Park at West Mercia Police Headquarters, Hindlip Hall, Worcester, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire (Mr Michael Brinton).

His Royal Highness, Chancellor, University of Worcester, this afternoon presided at the Graduation Ceremony in Worcester Cathedral.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning visited the Veterans Aid hostel at New Belvedere House, 87-90 Whitehorse Road, London E1.

His Royal Highness this evening attended the Final Concert and presented the prize at the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition at the Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Patron, English National Opera, was represented by Mr. Vernon Ellis (Chairman) at the Memorial Concert for Sir Charles Mackerras (former Conductor and Music Director) which was held at the Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, London SE1, this evening.
