COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

Mr. Andrew Lloyd was received in audience by The Queen today upon his appointment as British High Commissioner to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Ms. Tania Mechlenborg was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr. Justice Jackson was received by The Queen upon his appointment as a Justice of the High Court when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Bachelor.

Lieutenant General Sir Frederick Viggers was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod and delivered up the Insignia of Office.

Lieutenant General David Leakey was received by Her Majesty, took the Oath upon his appointment as Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod and received the Insignia of Office.

Mr. Thomas Woodcock (Garter King of Arms) was in attendance and administered the Oath.

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Prince of Wales visited the Headquarters of the Security Service.

His Royal Highness this evening attended a Gala Dinner for Zimbabwean charities at Claridge’s, Brook Street, Mayfair, London W1.

The Duke of York, Admiral, the Marine Society and Sea Cadets, this morning received Mr. Martin Coles upon assuming his appointment as Chief Executive.

His Royal Highness, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, received the Lord Levene of Portsoken (Chairman, Lloyd’s of London).

The Earl of Wessex, Chairman, International Council, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association, this morning chaired a Meeting of the Alliance Steering Committee.

The Princess Royal today visited Bristol and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs. John Prior).

Her Royal Highness this morning visited Merchants’ Academy, Gatehouse Avenue, Withywood.

The Princess Royal afterwards visited Barton Hill Settlement, 43 Ducie Road, Lawrence Hill, to mark its Centenary.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited Bristol Drugs Project, Brunswick Square, to mark its Twenty Fifth Anniversary.

The Princess Royal, Patron, the Butler Trust, later visited Her Majesty’s Prison Bristol, Cambridge Road.

The Duke of Gloucester, Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Army Medical Corps, this morning received Brigadier Alistair Macmillan upon relinquishing his appointment as Representative Colonel Commandant and Colonel Philip Hubbard upon assuming the appointment.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, Missing People, this morning received Mr. Martin Houghton-Brown (Chief Executive, Missing People) and Sir Francis Jacobs (President, Missing Children Europe, UK).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Royal Colonel, this morning visited 1st Battalion The Rifles on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire.
