Buckingham Palace

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited City and Islington College, the Angel, 311-321 Goswell Road, London EC1, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer), the Principal (Mr. Frank McLoughlin) and Mr. Jack Morris (Chairman of Governors and Chairman of the Business Design Centre Group).

Her Majesty, escorted by Dr. Steven Jones (Director of the Centre), and His Royal Highness, escorted by the Principal, toured the building and met students and staff.

The Queen unveiled two plaques to mark the opening of the Animal Centre and of the National Skills Academy Award for Excellence in Biotechnology.

The Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Honorary Member, Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers, this evening attended a dinner at the Institute of Civil Engineers, 1 Great George Street, London SW1.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning departed from Portela (Military Airport), Lisbon, for Spain and were received upon arrival this afternoon at Torrejon Military airport, Madrid, by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain (His Excellency Mr. Giles Paxman).

Their Royal Highnesses were later received by The Prince and Princess of Asturias at el Pardo Royal Palace.

The Prince of Wales this afternoon attended a United Kingdom Trade and Investment reception at Edificio Communidad de Madrid.

His Royal Highness afterwards visited the Iberdrola Sustainable Living Bus at the Plaza Mayor, Madrid.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later visited San Miguel Market, Plaza Oriente, Madrid.

Their Royal Highnesses subsequently attended a reception for Accion Social given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain at the Residence.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this evening attended a dinner given by The Prince and Princess of Asturias at el Pardo Royal Palace.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning attended a Briefing at the Ministry of Defence, Whitehall, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Special Representative for International Trade and Investment, this afternoon attended a luncheon at Jardine Matheson, 3 Lombard Street, London EC3.

The Duke of York later visited Qt Services, Unit 4, Darklake View, Estover, Plymouth, and was received by Rear Admiral R. Cheadle (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon).

His Royal Highness this evening attended a dinner at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Devonport, Plymouth.

Buckingham Palace

The Countess of Wessex this morning opened the new buildings at St. Bartholomew’s School Business and Enterprise College, Andover Road, Newbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the Royal County of Berkshire (the Hon. Mrs. Bayliss).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened Salisbury District Hospital New Children’s Unit and visited the Emergency Department, Salisbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Wiltshire (Mr. John Bush).

The Countess of Wessex later opened the new Wiltshire Council Bourne Hill Offices, Salisbury, Wiltshire.

Her Royal Highness, President, Girlguiding UK, subsequently opened the headquarters of Girlguiding Swanage District, Swanage, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Dorset (Mrs. Anthony Pitt-Rivers).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Director, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, this morning attended the 8th International Olympic Committee Coordination Commission meeting at Deloitte and Touche, 2 New Street Square, London EC4.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Transaid, this afternoon received Mr. Christopher Saunders upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive and Mr. Gary Forster upon assuming the appointment.

The Princess Royal, Commandant-in-Chief (Youth), St. John Ambulance, later held a Grand Prior reception at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, Director, London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, this evening attended the 8th International Olympic Committee Coordination Commission Reception at Brady Arts and Community Centre, 192-196 Hanbury Street, London E1.

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Gloucester this morning was present at a service to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Chronically Sick and Disabled Act 1970 in Westminster Abbey, London SW1.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Prostate Action, this evening attended a celebration reception for “Hike for Hope” at the Oriental Club, Stratford House, 11 Stratford Place, London WC1.
