Buckingham Palace

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at Penzance Railway Station and were received by Mr Michael Galsworthy (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall) and the Mayor of Penzance (Councillor J. Ruhrmund).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness met representatives from the community and local organisations and walked through the station forecourt.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh flew to the Isles of Scilly and were received at St Mary’s Airport by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (the Lady Mary Holborow).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Five Islands School, Carn Gwaval, St Mary’s, and were received by the Chairman of Governors (Mr Richard Vaughan) and Mr Bryce Wilby (Headteacher).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Chairman of the School Project Board (Mr Philip Hygate) and Councillor Christine Savill (Council Member for Education), toured the School which is still under construction and listened to a short recital by the school choir.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited Holgates Green, Hugh Town, and were received by the Chairman, Isles of Scilly Council (Councillor Michael Hicks) and Councillor Marion Bennett (Vice Chairman).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh viewed the new Sea Fisheries vessel, Matt Lethbridge, and viewed gigs and fishing vessels.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness subsequently met representatives of local organisations and viewed children maypole dancing.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended a Reception at Tregarthen’s Hotel, St Mary’s, before being entertained to Luncheon by the Chairman of the Isles of Scilly Council.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Patron, Durham Light Infantry Association, this afternoon attended a Reception of the Officers’ Dinner Club at The Rifles Officers’ Club, 52 Davies Street, London W1.

Her Royal Highness this evening attended the St George’s House Annual Lecture and Dinner at St George’s House, Windsor Castle.
