COURT CIRCULAR
Windsor Castle
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex, The Princess Royal, The Duke of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.
The Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers and Admiral the Lord Boyce were present.
The following Knights Companion were also present: the Lord Carrington (Chancellor), the Duke of Wellington, Field Marshal the Lord Bramall, the Viscount Ridley, the Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover, the Lord Ashburton, the Lord Kingsdown, Sir Timothy Colman, the Duke of Abercorn, Sir William Gladstone, Bt, Field Marshal the Lord Inge, Sir Antony Acland, the Duke of Westminster, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Lord Morris of Aberavon, the Baroness Soames, the Rt Hon Sir John Major, the Lord Luce and Sir Thomas Dunne.
The Officers of the Order were: the Right Reverend Michael Scott-Joynt (Prelate), the Dean of Windsor (Register), Mr Thomas Woodcock (Garter), Lieutenant General David Leakey (Black Rod) and Mr Patric Dickinson (Secretary).
Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Matheson, younger of Matheson (Secretary, Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood), Lord Stanley of Bickerstaff (Page of Honour) and Master Arthur Chatto (Page of Honour) were in attendance.
Her Majesty invested the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers and Admiral the Lord Boyce with the Insignia of Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh later gave a Luncheon Party.
The Installation Service was held in St George’s Chapel this afternoon.
Detachments of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty in the Chapel.
The Right Reverend Michael Scott-Joynt was received by The Queen later upon relinquishing his appointment as Prelate of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and delivered up the Badge and Chain of Office.

The Prince of Wales this afternoon received Mr William Gates (Chairman, Microsoft) at Windsor Castle.
