The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this evening attended Beat Retreat by the Massed Bands of the Royal Marines at Her Majesty’s Tower of London to celebrate the Ninetieth Birthday of His Royal Highness, Captain General, at which The Duke of Edinburgh took the salute, and were received by the Constable, Her Majesty’s Tower of London (General the Lord Dannatt) and Colonel Richard Harrold (Governor).
Afterwards Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, Former Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, were entertained to Dinner at Trinity House, Tower Hill, London EC3, and were received by The Princess Royal (Master) and Rear Admiral Sir Jeremy de Halpert (Deputy Master).
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Lady Juliet Townsend (Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Sir John Lowther (formerly Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire) which was held in All Saints’ Church, Northampton, this afternoon.
The Princess Royal was represented by the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke.
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were represented by Major Nicholas Barne.
The Duke of Kent was represented by Mr Nicolas Adamson.
Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy was represented by Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Birdwood.

The Prince of Wales this afternoon gave a Tea for the Devonshire Group Environmental Committee.
His Royal Highness this evening gave a Dinner at Windsor Castle for The Prince of Wales Foundation and The Prince’s Charities Foundation.

The Duke of York this morning held a Seminar at St James’s Palace on business opportunities between the United Kingdom and the State of Kuwait.
His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Luncheon given by the Ambassador from the State of Kuwait (His Excellency Mr Khaled Al Duwaisan).
The Duke of York later received the Ambassador from the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (His Excellency Mr Vu Quang Minh).
His Royal Highness this evening attended a Dinner given by Ariadne Capital at the Connaught Hotel, Carlos Place, London W1.

The Earl of Wessex this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for the United States of America and was received this afternoon upon arrival at Dulles International Airport, Washington DC, by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the United States of America (His Excellency Sir Nigel Sheinwald).
His Royal Highness later attended a Meeting with Mr Arne Duncan (Secretary of State for Education) at 400 Maryland Avenue, South West Washington DC.
The Earl of Wessex this evening attended a Reception at Capitol Hill.

The Princess Royal, Patron, RYA Sailability, this morning visited Southampton Water Activities Centre, Floating Bridge Road, Southampton, to mark its Twenty Fifth Anniversary, and was received by Mr Nigel Atkinson (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire).
Her Royal Highness, Patron, Women’s Royal Naval Service Benevolent Trust, this afternoon attended the Annual General Meeting at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, Admiralty Road, Portsmouth, and was received by Admiral Sir Jonathon Bond (Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire).
The Princess Royal, Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, this evening attended Beat Retreat at Her Majesty’s Tower of London, followed by Dinner at Trinity House, Tower Hill, London EC3, to mark the Ninetieth Birthday of The Duke of Edinburgh.

The Duke of Kent, President, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, this morning officially opened the new Number 3 Court and afterwards attended the opening day of the Wimbledon Championships at Church Road, London SW19.
