Buckingham Palace

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh left Heathrow Airport, London, this morning to visit Australia and be present at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Perth.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received at the Airport by Air Marshal Sir David Walker (Master of the Household), Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer), the Australian High Commissioner (His Excellency Mr. John Dauth), Mr Colin Matthews (Chief Executive Officer, British Airports Authority) and Mr. Keith Williams (Chief Executive, British Airways).

The following are in attendance: the Hon. Mary Morrison, the Lady Susan Hussey, the Rt. Hon. Sir Christopher Geidt, Mr. Doug King, Ms. Samantha Cohen, Mrs. Mark Anderson, Mr. Michael Jephson, Surgeon Captain David Hett RN, Brigadier Archie Miller-Bakewell and Commander Andrew Willis RAN.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Queen was represented by Colonel the Hon. Nicholas Crossley (formerly a Gentleman of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms) at the Funeral of Major Anthony Arkwright (formerly Standard Bearer of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms) which was held in St. Leonard’s Church, Welbury, North Yorkshire, today.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, President, this morning visited Wellington Academy, Tidworth, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mr. John Bush).

His Royal Highness, Patron, SS Great Britain Trust, afterwards visited Brunel’s SS GREAT BRITAIN, Great Western Dockyard, Bristol, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs. John Prior).

The Duke of York this afternoon visited SETSquared, University Gate East, Park Row, Bristol.

His Royal Highness afterwards visited FSG Tool and Die, Unit 5, Llantrisant Business Park, Llantrisant, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan (Mrs. Kathrin Thomas).

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex this morning opened City of London Academy Islington, Prebend Street, Islington, London N1, and was received by Colonel Brian Kay (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon held a Lunch for the National Operating Authorities at Buckingham Palace.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, later chaired a One Award Alliance Meeting at Award House, 7-11 St Matthew Street, London SW1.

The Countess of Wessex this morning visited Mole Valley Farmers Limited, Station Road, South Molton, and was received by Lady Clifford of Chudleigh (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Wells Cathedral Girl Chorister Trust, this afternoon visited Wells Cathedral School and attended a Service of Dedication in Wells Cathedral, and was received by Brigadier Alastair Fyfe (Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset).

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, the Wells Cathedral Chorister Trust, later attended a Lunch at Wells Cathedral School and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset (Lady Gass).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Honorary Air Commodore, University of London Air Squadron, this morning received Squadron Leader Chris Talbot RAF (Officer Commanding the University of London Air Squadron).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened the new Southampton Police Headquarters at Southern Road, Southampton, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

The Princess Royal, Patron, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, later attended a Prizegiving Ceremony for Service personnel and fundraisers at the Royal Naval Museum, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Her Royal Highness, Commodore-in-Chief, Portsmouth, this evening attended a Trafalgar Night Dinner at the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra this afternoon opened the new care facilities of the Orders of St. John Care Trust, Prescott Close, Banbury, and was received by Mr. John Harwood (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire).
