Buckingham Palace

Sir Christopher Geidt was received by The Queen this morning when Her Majesty conferred upon him the honour of Knighthood and invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Honorary Life Member, the British Sub-Aqua Club, this morning presented The Duke of Edinburgh’s Prize at Buckingham Palace.

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Lunch at Westminster Abbey, London SW1.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited Freedom Square, Soweto, South Africa, and were received by the Mayor of Johannesburg.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership, this afternoon attended a Roundtable Discussion with members of the South African Corporate Leaders’ Group, at the Residence of the British High Commissioner to the Republic of South Africa in Pretoria and was received by the British High Commissioner (Dame Nicola Brewer).

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall afterwards attended a Reception for the British and South African communities at the British High Commission.

Their Royal Highnesses later visited the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Houghton, Johannesburg, and were received by Mrs. Graca Machel on behalf of her husband, Mr. Nelson Mandela.

The Prince of Wales subsequently attended a Garden Party at the British Trade Commissioner’s residence in Johannesburg to celebrate entrepreneurship and education.

Their Royal Highnesses this evening attended a Reception given by the Acting President of the Republic of South Africa (Mr. Kgalema Petrus Mothlanthe MP) at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria.

The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited the Tshwane Leadership Foundation, Potters House, Pretoria.

The Earl of Wessex today carried out the following engagements in Hong Kong, China.

His Royal Highness, Chairman of the International Council, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Association, this morning visited Cape Collinson Correctional Institution, 123 Cape Collinson Road, Chai Wan.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this afternoon attended a Young Fellowship Lunch at the American Club, Exchange Square Two, Central.

His Royal Highness later opened the “Fly me to the Field” Exhibition for the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Hong Kong Award for Young People at K11 Art Mall, Tsim Sha Tsui.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, subsequently visited Pui Ching Middle School, 20 Pui Ching Road, Ho Man Tin, Kowloon.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, afterwards visited the Civil Aids Services, Kowloon, in celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Hong Kong Award for Young People.

The Earl of Wessex this evening attended a Reception at the British Consulate General, 1 Supreme Court Road, to mark the Ninetieth Anniversary of the Royal British Legion, and was received by Her Majesty’s Consul-General for Hong Kong and Macao (Mr. Andrew Seaton).

The Earl of Wessex later departed Hong Kong International Airport for the United Kingdom.

The Princess Royal, Patron, the British School of Osteopathy, this afternoon presented Honorary and Graduation Certificates at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank Centre, London SE1.

Her Royal Highness, Commandant-in-Chief (Youth), St. John Ambulance, later held a Young Achievers’ Reception at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Columba 1400, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace.

His Royal Highness this morning visited Pixar Animation Studios, 1200 Park Avenue, Emeryville.

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon toured the College of Environmental Design at the University of California, Berkeley.

His Royal Highness later attended a demonstration at Dolby Laboratories Inc., 100 Potrero Avenue, San Francisco.

The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, this evening attended a Dinner in San Francisco.

The Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon attended a Service of Thanksgiving in St. Marylebone Church, London NW1, to mark the Two Hundred and Twentieth Anniversary of St. Marylebone Church of England School, and was received by Brigadier Paul Orchard-Lisle (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Princess Alexandra, Royal Colonel, 3rd Battalion The Rifles, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Kitson at Buckingham Palace upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Charles Maconochie upon assuming the appointment.

Her Royal Highness, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, The Queen’s Royal Lancers, later received Major General Andrew Cumming upon relinquishing his appointment as Colonel of the Regiment and Major General Patrick Marriott upon assuming the appointment.
