COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

There were present: the Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Vincent Cable MP (Secretary of State, Department for Business, Innovation and Skills), the Rt. Hon. Alan Duncan MP (Minister of State, Department for International Development) and the Rt. Hon. Andrew Mitchell MP (Secretary of State, Department for International Development).

Mr. Edward Davey MP was sworn in as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, took the Oath of Office as Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.

Mrs. Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

The Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales this morning received the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt MP (Secretary of State for Culture, Olympics, Media and Sport).

His Royal Highness, President, this afternoon attended The Prince’s Teaching Institute’s Schools Leadership Programme Day to celebrate its Tenth Anniversary, at Madingley Hall, Madingley, near Cambridge, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr. Hugh Duberly).

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Teaching Institute, and Patron, Teach First, this evening held a Dinner at Clarence House.

The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s research programmes to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes at the Cambridge Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Facility, Addenbrooke’s Centre for Clinical Investigation, Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, and was received by Mrs. John Lewin Smith (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Emmaus UK, afterwards visited Emmaus Cambridge, Green End, Landbeach, near Cambridge.

St James’s Palace

The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron, National Portrait Gallery, this evening visited the Lucien Freud Portraits exhibition at the Gallery, London WC2.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Chairman of the Trustees, the Outward Bound Trust, today held a Chairman’s Meeting and gave a Lunch at Buckingham Palace for supporters.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Hackney University Technical College, this afternoon held a Meeting for head teachers.

The Duke of York later received Mr. James Bevan (British High Commissioner to India).

His Royal Highness this evening attended a prize giving for apprentices at the Crossrail Tunnelling and Underground Construction Academy, Aldersbrook Sidings, Lugg Approach, London E12.

Buckingham Palace

The Countess of Wessex this morning visited Berkshire East and South Buckinghamshire Women’s Aid Centre, Slough, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (the Hon. Mrs. Bayliss).

Her Royal Highness later opened the EarleyBird and Hawkedon Foundation Centre, Hawkedon Primary School, Hawkedon Way, Lower Earley, and was received by Mrs. Christine Weston (Deputy Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire).

The Countess of Wessex this afternoon opened Wokingham Community Fire Station in Easthampstead Road, Wokingham, Berkshire.

Her Royal Highness afterwards officially opened the Royal Berkshire Bracknell Clinic, Eastern Gate, Brants Bridge, Bracknell, Berkshire.

The Princess Royal, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, this evening held a Dinner at St. James’s Palace.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited St. Oswald’s Hospice, Regent Avenue, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne, to commemorate their Twenty Fifth Anniversary and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Mr. Nigel Sherlock).

His Royal Highness, Patron, Bede’s World Museum, this afternoon visited St. Paul’s Church, Church Bank, Jarrow, Tyne and Wear, and Bede’s World, Church Bank, Jarrow.

The Duke of Gloucester later opened One Harton Quay, Harton Staithes, South Shields.

His Royal Highness afterwards opened Cleadon Park Primary Care Centre, Prince Edward Road, South Shields.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning officially opened the entertainment centre G Live in London Road, Guildford, and was received by Mr. Gordon Lee-Steere (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey).

His Royal Highness afterwards visited Alexander Dennis Limited, Dennis Way, Slyfield Industrial Estate, Guildford.

The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Headley Court, Headley, Epsom, Surrey.

His Royal Highness later visited Caterham School, Harestone Valley Road, Caterham, and was received by Sir Stephen Lamport (Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey).

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park

Princess Alexandra, Patron, this afternoon opened the new offices of the Mental Health Foundation at Colechurch House, 1 London Bridge Walk, London SE1.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, Children and Families Across Borders, this evening attended the International Children Protection Dinner at the Residence of the Ambassador of Switzerland in London.
