Buckingham Palace

His Excellency Mr Solo Mara was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for Fiji in London.

Mrs Mara was also received by Her Majesty.

His Excellency Mr Alphonse Berns was received in audience by Her Majesty and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from Luxembourg to the Court of St James’s. Mrs Berns was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr Simon Fraser (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

Prince Henry of Wales, Honorary Air Commandant, this morning visited Royal Air Force Honington, Suffolk.

His Royal Highness, Patron, this afternoon, attended a Reception for Walking with the Wounded’s Expedition to Everest at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, 195 Piccadilly, London W1.

The Duke of York this afternoon received Dr Babatunde Osotimehin (Executive Director, United Nations Population Fund).

The Princess Royal this morning visited the Stroud Canal Project marking the restoration of the canal between Brimscombe and Stonehouse, Cotswold Canals Trust Visitor Centre, Bell House, Wallbridge Lock, Stroud, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Dame Janet Trotter). Her Royal Highness, President, The Princess Royal Trust for Carers, later visited Carers Gloucestershire, Messenger House, 35 St Michael’s Square, Gloucester, to mark its Twentieth Anniversary, and was received by Mr Robert Bernays (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire).

The Princess Royal this afternoon opened Vale Community Hospital, Littlecombe Business Park, Dursley, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Dame Janet Trotter).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Anglian Regiment, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Nigel Johnson upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer 2nd Battalion.
