Buckingham Palace
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Multi-Faith Reception to commemorate Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee at Lambeth Palace, London SE1, and were received by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..
There were present: the Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Justine Greening MP (Secretary of State for Transport), the Rt. Hon. Nicholas Herbert MP (Minister of State, Home Office) and the Rt. Hon. Eric Pickles MP (Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government).
Sir Nigel Davis, Dr. Denzil Douglas and the Lord Sumption were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.
Mr. Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.
The Rt. Hon. Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Lieutenant Colonel Sir Seymour Gilbart-Denham (Extra Equerry and a former Crown Equerry) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Lord Somerleyton (formerly Lord in Waiting to The Queen and Master of the Horse) which was held at St. Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft, Suffolk, this afternoon.
The Princess Royal was represented by Colonel Toby Browne.
The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were represented by the Lord Tollemache.
The Duke and Duchess of Kent were represented by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Matheson of Matheson, yr.

The Prince of Wales this morning received Dr. Farhan Ahmed Nizami (Director, Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies).
His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Trust, this afternoon attended the launch of the Trust’s Job Ambassadors scheme, 18 Park Square East, London NW1.
The Prince of Wales, President, Business in the Community, later held an Arts and Business Meeting at Clarence House.
His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Youth Business International, afterwards held a Tea for supporters.
The Duchess of Cornwall this evening was installed as a Royal Bencher of the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn at 8 South Square, London WC1, and subsequently attended a Reception.

The Duke of York, Patron, Broughton House Home For Ex-Service Personnel, this morning received Colonel David Kirkwood upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive and Mr. Sean McEvoy upon assuming the appointment.
His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, The Yorkshire Regiment (14th/15th, 19th and 33rd/76th Foot), received Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Vallings upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 3rd Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Zachary Stenning upon assuming the appointment.
The Duke of York, President, Society for Nautical Research, this afternoon received Admiral Sir Kenneth Eaton (Chairman of Council).
