Buckingham Palace

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this morning presented The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes for Higher and Further Education at Buckingham Palace and afterwards Her Majesty and His Royal Highness gave a Reception.

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University College London, and The Duke of Kent, Chancellor, University of Surrey, were present.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Visitor, Churchill College Cambridge, was represented by Mr Philip Greenish (Chief Executive, the Royal Academy of Engineering) at the Memorial Service for the Life of Sir William Hawthorne (formerly Master, Churchill College and Head of the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge), which was held in Great St Mary’s, the University Church, Senate House Hill, Cambridge, this afternoon.

The Prince of Wales this morning visited Bombardier Transportation UK Limited, Litchurch Lane, Derby, and was received by Colonel John Wilson (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Rolls-Royce, Wilmore Road, Derby.

The Prince of Wales later visited Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Derbyshire, and subsequently attended a Reception for the Peak District National Park Authority.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl and Countess of Wessex today carried out the following engagements in Barbados, West Indies.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this morning attended a Reception for young people who have reached the Gold Standard in the Award at Government House, Government Hill, St Michael.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex later unveiled a plaque commemorating the Diamond Jubilee of The Queen’s Accession to the Throne at Kensington Oval, Fontabelle, St Michael.

Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon attended a Lunch given by the Prime Minister of Barbados (the Hon Freundel Stuart) and members of the Government at Ilaro Court, Two Mile Hill, St Michael.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex later visited Nidhe Israel Synagogue, Museum and Baths, Synagogue Lane, Bridgetown.

Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited the Royal Barbados Police Band at Prince Cave Hall, District A Station, Station Hill, St Michael.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex this evening held a Reception on board RFA Fort Rosalie, Port of Bridgetown.

The Countess of Wessex this morning visited the Albert Cecil Graham Development Centre, Ladymeade Gardens, St Michael.

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Gloucester, Joint Patron, Cheltenham Festivals 2012, this afternoon visited the Fine Art and Antiques Fair at Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel, Wotton-under-Edge, and was received by Mr Robert Bernays (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire).

The Duke of Kent, President, the Royal Institution of Great Britain, this evening attended the Friday Evening Discourse entitled, “Alzheimer’s disease: treatments and tests on the horizon” by Simon Lovestone at 21 Albemarle Street, London W1.
