COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace 

His Excellency Lieutenant Colonel Bizwayo Nkunika was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for Zambia in London.

Mrs Nkunika was also received by Her Majesty.

His Excellency Mr T. Hamzah Thayeb was received in audience by Her Majesty and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from Indonesia to the Court of St James’s.

Mrs Thayeb was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr Simon Fraser (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

The Queen received the Bishop of Winchester (the Right Reverend Timothy Dakin) who did Homage upon his appointment.

The Rt Hon Kenneth Clarke MP (Lord Chancellor) administered the Oath.

The Bishop of Guildford (Clerk of the Closet) was in attendance.

The Queen handed to the Bishop of Winchester the Badge and Chain of Office upon his appointment as Prelate of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

Mr Thomas Woodcock (Garter King of Arms) was in attendance.

Ms Jo Shapcott was received by The Queen when Her Majesty presented her with The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry.

The Poet Laureate (Professor Carol Ann Duffy) was present.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel, Grenadier Guards, this morning visited Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1.

His Royal Highness was represented by Brigadier Archie Miller-Bakewell (Private Secretary to His Royal Highness) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mrs Nancy Wake which was held in St Clement Danes Church, Strand, London WC2, this morning.

Clarence House 

The Prince of Wales, Patron, University of Wales Trinity Saint David, this morning received Professor Medwin Hughes (Vice Chancellor).

His Royal Highness was represented by Major General Arthur Denaro at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mrs Nancy Wake which was held in St Clement Danes Church, Strand, London WC2, this morning.

St James’s Palace 

Prince Henry of Wales, representing The Queen, today carried out the following engagements in Jamaica to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.

His Royal Highness this morning visited the Usain Bolt Track and officially opened the Faculty of Law at the University of the West Indies, Mona.

Prince Henry of Wales afterwards visited Bustamante Hospital for Children, Kingston.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Rt Hon Portia Simpson-Miller MP (Prime Minister) at Devon House, Kingston.

Prince Henry of Wales this afternoon unveiled a statue at the Queen Victoria Jubilee Hospital, Kingston, to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

His Royal Highness later visited Rise Life Management Services, Kingston.

Prince Henry of Wales this evening was entertained at a State Dinner given by the GovernorGeneral of Jamaica (His Excellency Sir Patrick Allen) at King’s House, Kingston.

The Duke of York this afternoon held a Luncheon for Arab Ambassadors at Buckingham Palace.

His Royal Highness later received Professor Hooshang Amirahadi (Senior Associate Member, St Antony’s College, University of Oxford).

Buckingham Palace 

The Earl and Countess of Wessex this morning arrived in Nelson’s Dockyard, English Harbour, Antigua and Barbuda, West Indies, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee and were received by the Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda (Her Excellency Mrs Louise Agnetha Lake-Tack).

Their Royal Highnesses later visited Admiral’s House, Museum, Nelson’s Dockyard.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex afterwards visited the Dow’s Hill Interpretation Centre, English Harbour.

Their Royal Highnesses today attended a Lunch given by the Hon Dr Baldwin Spencer (Prime Minister) at the Admiral’s Inn, Nelson’s Dockyard.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex this evening attended a State Dinner given by the Governor-General at Mill Reef Club, Saint Philip.

Buckingham Palace 

The Princess Royal, Patron, the Butler Trust, this morning held the Annual Awards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, President, Victim Support, this afternoon received Miss Enid Rowlands (Chairman) and Mr Javed Khan (Chief Executive).

The Princess Royal, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, this evening held a President’s Club Reception at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness was represented by Commandant Kimberley McCutcheon at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Mrs Nancy Wake which was held in St Clement Danes Church, Strand, London WC2, this morning.

Kensington Palace 

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited the Central Administration Complex, Road Town, Tortola, and was received by the Premier of the British Virgin Islands (Dr the Hon D Orlando Smith).

His Royal Highness afterwards visited the House of Assembly, Road Town, and was received by the Speaker of the House (the Hon Ingrid Moses-Scatcliffe).

The Duke of Gloucester later visited Sailability BVI at the BVI Watersports Centre, Manuel Reef Marina, Sea Cows Bay.

His Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Luncheon given by the International Finance Centre at Charlie’s Bar and Restaurant, New Moorings Village, Road Town.

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards visited Main Street, Road Town.

His Royal Highness later visited the Old Government House Museum, Waterfront Road, Road Town.

The Duke of Gloucester this evening visited the Crow’s Nest at Peter Island Resort and Spa, Peter Island.

His Royal Highness subsequently attended a Reception and Dinner given by the Premier at the Tradewinds Restaurant, Peter Island Resort and Spa.

St James’s Palace 

The Duke of Kent, Grand Master, this morning attended a Ceremony to mark the restoration of the Memorial Window at the United Grand Lodge of England, Great Queen Street, London WC2.
