COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace 

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh today commenced a visit to the South West to mark Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee and were received upon arrival at Sherborne Railway Station by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset (Mrs Anthony Pitt-Rivers) and the Mayor of Sherborne (Councillor Marjorie Snowden).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to Sherborne Abbey Green and were received by the Bishop of Sherborne (the Right Reverend Dr Graham Kings) and the Organiser of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party (Mr Russell Lucas-Rowe).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh toured the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party and met local school children.

Her Majesty visited a Food Fair and met former Lord-Lieutenants of Dorset and winners of the Jubilee People’s Millions and His Royal Highness viewed an exhibition of work by local artisans.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards attended a 1952 Coffee Morning at Digby Memorial Church Hall, Digby Road, Sherborne, and were received by Mr James Gibson Fleming (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness later arrived at Salisbury Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mrs Peter Troughton).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove to The Rifles Regimental Museum, the Wardrobe, 58 the Close, Salisbury, and were received by the Curator (Mr Simon Cook) and the Mayor of Salisbury (Councillor John Abbott).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were entertained to Luncheon by the Chairman of Wiltshire Council (Councillor Brigadier Robert Hall).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited Cathedral Close, Salisbury, and viewed Wiltshire Communities’ medieval themed exhibits and entertainment.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards visited Salisbury Cathedral and were received by the Dean (the Very Reverend June Osborne) and the Bishop of Salisbury (the Right Reverend Nicholas Holtam).

The Queen viewed children working on the Magna Carta and The Duke of Edinburgh met stonemasons and craftsmen.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness subsequently viewed a Regimental Band display.

Clarence House 

The Prince of Wales, Patron, the Prayer Book Society, this morning opened the “Royal Devotion” Exhibition to celebrate the Three Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of the 1662 edition of the Book of Common Prayer at Lambeth Palace, Lambeth Palace Road, London SE1.

His Royal Highness, Patron, this afternoon held a Reception for the International Network for Traditional Building, Architecture and Urbanism at Clarence House.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership, afterwards held a Pharmaceutical Sector Advisor Board Meeting.

His Royal Highness, President, this evening held a Meeting for the British Asian Trust.

The Prince of Wales, Chairman, the Royal Collection Trust, this evening attended a Reception for the Leonardo Exhibition at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

His Royal Highness, President, this evening held a Dinner for The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community at St James’s Palace.

The Duchess of Cornwall, this evening attended the London Library Annual Literary Dinner and presented the London Library Life in Literature Award at the London Library, 14 St James’s Square, London SW1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

Buckingham Palace 

The Duke of York, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, today carried out the following engagements in Kohima, India.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Commonwealth War Graves and laid a wreath.

The Duke of York afterwards attended a Lunch to mark the United Kingdom’s support of conflict prevention in Nagaland at Bamboo Hall.

His Royal Highness later visited the World War Two Museum.

The Duke of York this evening arrived in Mumbai and was received by Mr Peter Beckingham (Deputy British High Commissioner to Mumbai).

Buckingham Palace 

The Countess of Wessex, Grand President, St. John Ambulance in the Priory of England and the Islands, today attended the County Presidents’ Day at St John’s Gate, St John’s Lane, London SE1.

Buckingham Palace 

The Princess Royal, President, British Olympic Association, this morning received Miss Stella McCartney.

Her Royal Highness, Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, later chaired the Anniversary of Tinitytide Annual Court Meeting followed by a Luncheon, Trinity House, Trinity Square, London EC3.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, President, Rescue and Preparedness in Disasters UK, today visited Winchester College, College Street, Winchester, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the University of Winchester Business School, West Downs Campus, Romsey Road, Winchester.

Thatched House Lodge, Richmond Park 

Princess Alexandra this evening attended the Ladies’ Livery Dinner of the Salters’ Company at Salters’ Hall, 4 Fore Street, London EC2.
