Palace of Holyroodhouse
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh arrived at Edinburgh Airport this afternoon.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Palace of Holyroodhouse and were received by the Hereditary Keeper (the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon).
Afterwards The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received in the Forecourt by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt Hon the Lord Provost surrendered to The Queen the Keys of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.
A Guard of Honour found by The Royal Highland Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Lieutenant Douglas Dunlop, was mounted in the Forecourt.
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, later officially re-opened the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, 1 Queen Street, Edinburgh, and was received by the Chairman of the National Galleries of Scotland (Mr Ben Thomson) and the Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (Ms Nicola Kalinsky).
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the galleries and met key donors of the renovation campaign.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon attended a Scottish Business Luncheon at Macdonald Holyrood Hotel, 81 Holyrood Road, Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness, Patron, later presented Awards to young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall this morning opened Heartlands, Robinson’s Shaft, Dundance Lane, Pool, Redruth, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho).
The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon attended a Garden Party at Trewithen Gardens, Truro, to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and His Royal Highness’s Sixtieth Anniversary as Duke of Cornwall.

The Duke of York, Admiral, the Marine Society and Sea Cadets, this afternoon received Mr Martin Coles (Chief Executive).
His Royal Highness, Patron Alderney Maritime Trust, received Mr Michael Harrison (Trust Coordinator) at Buckingham Palace.

The Countess of Wessex this morning attended the Royal Horticultural Society Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, East Molesey, Surrey.
Her Royal Highness, Patron, Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Association, in conjunction with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Golf for Youth, this afternoon presented prizes to the winners of a Golf Tournament at Bearwood Lakes Golf Club, Mole Road, Sindlesham, Berkshire.

The Princess Royal this morning visited John Lilley and Gillie Limited to mark its Two Hundredth Anniversary as an International Operating Company and opened the new Head Offices, 17 Elm Road, West Chirton North, North Shields, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Mr Nigel Sherlock).
Her Royal Highness today opened the newly renovated Tynemouth Station, Station Terrace, Tynemouth, Tyne and Wear.
The Princess Royal this afternoon opened BAE Systems Global Combat Systems Munitions new manufacturing site at 1 Radial Park Road, Washington, Tyne and Wear.
Her Royal Highness later opened Angel Court Extra Care Scheme, Angel Court, Waverley Road, Harlow Green, Gateshead, Tyne and Wear.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened the Long Barn for the Society of Mary and Martha at the Sheldon Centre, Dunsford, Exeter, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Devon (Mr Eric Dancer).
His Royal Highness this afternoon visited S.R.A. Developments, Bremridge House, Ashburton.
The Duke of Gloucester subsequently visited Country Holidays for Inner City Kids at the Moorland Retreat, Bonnaford, Brentor, Tavistock, to mark its Twentieth Anniversary.
The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary President, today attended the Lawn Tennis Association’s President’s Luncheon and subsequently was present at the Championships, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, London SW19.
