Palace of Holyroodhouse
The Queen held an Investiture at the Palace of Holyroodhouse this morning.
The Rt Hon Alex Salmond MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Executive) was received in audience by Her Majesty today.
Mrs Patricia Marwick MSP (Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) was received in audience by The Queen.
The Lord Selkirk of Douglas (Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland) was received by Her Majesty and reported on the recent proceedings of the General Assembly.
Mr William Muir, winner of the annual shooting event of The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, was presented to Her Majesty and received The Queen’s Prize.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.
The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse were on duty.
The Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland, the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers and the Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society played selections of music during the afternoon.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Royal Honorary Colonel, City of Edinburgh Universities Officers Training Corps, today received Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Mackenzie upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall today visited the Isles of Scilly and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cornwall (Colonel Edward Bolitho).
Their Royal Highnesses this morning opened Five Islands School, St Mary’s.
The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall afterwards visited St Mary’s and subsequently attended a Meeting with the Isles of Scilly Local Action Group at the Mermaid Inn, St Mary’s.
The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited the recently restored Gig Shed and met members of Tresco and Bryher Gig Club at Bar Quay, Bryher.
Their Royal Highnesses afterwards visited the Post Office and Art Gallery, Bryher.
The Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cornwall later opened the Community Centre at Bryher and attended a Reception.
The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Veterinary Surgery at Old Town, St Mary’s.

The Duke of York this morning attended a meeting of Working for Youth at City Edge, 125-127 Mare Street, Hackney E8.
His Royal Highness, Patron, this evening attended the launch of the Sovereign Science Exhibition at the Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, today attended Receptions at St James’s Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The Countess of Wessex, Honorary Air Commodore, this morning visited Royal Air Force Wittering, Peterborough, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr Hugh Duberly).

The Princess Royal, Colonel, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), this morning attended Exercise Tryout, a Household Cavalry Mounted Regimental Exercise at Bodney Camp, Stanford Training Area, Thetford, Norfolk.
Her Royal Highness, Master, Corporation of Trinity House, this afternoon visited Oriana and took the Salute from the deck of Trinity House Vessel Patricia in a Fleet Review of seven cruise ships, as they passed Portsmouth on passage from Southampton to mark the One Hundred and Seventy Fifth Anniversary of P&O and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Dame Mary Fagan).
The Princess Royal, President, the Mission to Seafarers, was represented by Mr Robert Woods (Chairman) at the Memorial Service for the Life of the Reverend Tom Heffer (formerly Secretary General) which was held in the Parish Church of St Sepulchre-without-Newgate, Holborn Viaduct, London EC1, today.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning opened Ryde District Heritage Centre, Royal Victoria Arcade, Union Street, Ryde, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Isle of Wight (Major General Martin White).
His Royal Highness this afternoon presented The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service to Shanklin Theatre and Isle of Wight Steam Railway Company Limited, and visited Osborne House, York Avenue, East Cowes.
The Duke of Gloucester subsequently visited Queen Victoria’s Beach to mark the restoration of the Exedra, East Cowes.
