Balmoral Castle
The Queen held a Council at Balmoral Castle at 12.00 noon.
There was present: the Lord Strathclyde (Acting Lord President).
The Rt Hon Christopher Grayling MP took the Oath of Office as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice, kissed hands on his appointment and received the Great Seal and the Seal of Office.
The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Transport.
The Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
Mr David Jones MP was sworn in as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, took the Oath of Office as Secretary of State for Wales, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.
Mrs Maria Miller MP was sworn in a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council, took the Oath of Office as Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office.
The Rt Hon Andrew Lansley MP took the Oath of Office as Lord Privy Seal, kissed hands upon his appointment and received the Privy Seal.
Mr Richard Tilbrook and Mrs Ceri King were in attendance as Clerk of the Council and Deputy Clerk of the Council.
The Lord Strathclyde had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this evening departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Singapore, Malaysia, the Solomon Islands and Tuvalu.
Mr Jamie Lowther Pinkerton, Miss Rebecca Deacon and Mr Miguel Head are in attendance.

The Duke of York, Patron, today attended The Duke of York Young Champions’ Trophy at Royal Troon Golf Club, Craigend Road, Troon, Ayrshire.
His Royal Highness, Patron, The Duke of York Young Champions’ Trophy, this evening attended the Sponsors’ Dinner at Royal Troon Golf Club.

The Earl of Wessex, Patron, British Paralympic Association, and The Countess of Wessex today attended the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Athletes’ Parade in London.

The Princess Royal this afternoon attended the Institution of Railway Signal Engineers International Technical Conference to mark the One Hundredth Anniversary of the Institution at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, Broad Sanctuary, London SW1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).
Her Royal Highness, President, British Olympic Association, afterwards attended the Celebration Parade for Team GB and Paralympics GB at The Queen Victoria Memorial.
The Princess Royal, President, British Olympic Association, later attended a Team GB and Paralympics GB Reception at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.
Her Royal Highness, President, the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, this evening attended the Annual Lecture and Dinner at 8 John Adam Street, London WC2.
