Balmoral Castle
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this afternoon opened the new Library at the University of Aberdeen, Bedford Road, Aberdeen, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Aberdeen (Councillor George Adam, the Lord Provost) and the Chancellor (the Lord Wilson of Tillyorn KT).
Her Majesty, escorted by the Principal (Professor Ian Diamond) and His Royal Highness, escorted by Mr Ciaran Monaghan (Head of Service, Office of the Chief Executive), toured the Library, meeting students and members of staff, conservationists and donors, and attended a Reception.
The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, afterwards re-opened Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen, and was received with a Guard of Honour found by Sea, Air and Army Cadets.
Her Majesty, escorted by the Chief Executive of Aberdeen City Council (Mrs Valerie Watts), and His Royal Highness, escorted by Mr Monaghan, viewed an exhibition and archive film footage, visited the Customer Service Centre and met members of staff, Councillors and Deputy Lieutenants of Aberdeenshire.
Buckingham Palace
The Earl of Wessex this morning opened Amman Valley Community Fire Station, New Road, Gwaun Cae Gurwen, Ammanford, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Glamorgan (Mr Byron Lewis).
His Royal Highness, Honorary Member, the British and Commonwealth Fire and Rescue Company Foundation, later attended a Service in the Parish Church of St Thomas, Church Place, Neath, to commemorate the gift of the Fourth Bell of Santiago from the Church in Wales to the British and Commonwealth Fire and Rescue Company Foundation, followed by a Reception.
The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon visited Heronsbridge School, Ewenny Road, Bridgend, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Mid Glamorgan (Mrs Kate Thomas).
His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, later attended Institute of Directors Wales Seminar “Leaders of Tomorrow” at Vale Resort, Hensol Park, Hensol, Vale of Glamorgan.
Buckingham Palace
The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen in celebration of Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee, today carried out the following engagements in Zambia.
Her Royal Highness this morning arrived at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and was received by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Zambia (His Excellency Mr James Thornton).
The Princess Royal was later received by The Acting President of the Republic of Zambia at the Finance Ministry, Independence Avenue, Lusaka.
Her Royal Highness afterwards called upon the former President of the Republic of Zambia (Mr Kenneth Kaunda) at the University Teaching Hospital, Nationalist Road, Lusaka.
The Princess Royal subsequently attended a Reception given by the British High Commissioner at the British High Commission, Independence Avenue, Lusaka.
Her Royal Highness, President, Save the Children UK, later visited Fountain of Hope — Street Children Project, Mancha Road, Lusaka.
The Princess Royal, President, Royal Agricultural Society of the Commonwealth, this evening attended the opening Dinner of the Annual Conference at the Royal Livingstone Hotel, Mosi-Oa-Tunya Road, Livingstone.

The Duchess of Gloucester, President, this afternoon attended a Governing Body Meeting at the Royal Academy of Music, Marylebone Road, London NW1.
