COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 pm.

There was present: the Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP (Lord President).

The Rt Hon Gregory Barker MP, the Rt Hon Michael Fallon MP, the Rt Hon Damian Green MP and the Rt Hon Hugh Robertson MP were sworn in as members of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Health.

The Rt Hon Owen Paterson MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

The Rt Hon Justine Greening MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for International Development.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Nicholas Clegg MP had an audience of The Queen before the Council.

The Rt Hon David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning officially opened Cellarium Cafe at Westminster Abbey, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Federation of London Youth Clubs, this afternoon gave a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Past President and Honorary Life Fellow, later attended a Reception to mark the re-naming of the Adelphi Room to The Prince Philip Room at the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, John Adam Street, London W1.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Lord Fellowes (Secretary and Registrar of the Order of Merit) at the Memorial Occasion for Professor Sir Andrew Huxley OM which was held at the Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1, this evening.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Cambridge, Patron, St Giles Trust’s Fiftieth Anniversary, this evening attended a Dinner given by the October Club at the Savoy Hotel, Strand, London WC2.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning received Mr Ian Powell (Chairman and Senior Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers UK).

His Royal Highness this afternoon held a Meeting on technical education.

The Duke of York later received Mr Doug Richard (Founder, School for Startups).

His Royal Highness this evening gave a Reception to launch the Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremonies.

The Duke of York afterwards attended a Dinner given by the Ambassador from Ireland to the Court of St James’s (His Excellency Mr Robert McDonagh) at the Embassy of Ireland, 17 Grosvenor Place, London SW1.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Royal Honorary Colonel, Royal Wessex Yeomanry, this morning received Lieutenant Colonel Richard Trant upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Christopher MacGregor upon assuming the appointment.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Tennis and Rackets Association, this evening attended the Marylebone Cricket Club European Open Singles Championship Finals and Dinner at Lord’s Cricket Ground, St John’s Wood, London NW8.

The Countess of Wessex this morning departed from Farnborough Airport for Germany and later arrived in Paderborn.

Her Royal Highness today attended The Countess of Wessex Cup between 5th Battalion The Rifles and Royal Air Force Wittering, of which Her Royal Highness is Royal Colonel and Honorary Air Commodore respectively, and HMS Daring, Alanbrooke Barracks, Paderborn.

The Countess of Wessex later arrived at Farnborough Airport from Germany.

Mrs Philippa Southgate-Sands was in attendance.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, President, Victim Support, this morning attended the National Young Witness Service Conference, Speakingup4children, at the Kassam Stadium, Grenoble Road, Oxford, and was received by Mrs Helen Baker (Deputy Lieutenant of Oxfordshire).

Her Royal Highness, President, British Olympic Association, this afternoon attended a Board Meeting at 60 Charlotte Street, London W1.

The Princess Royal, Commodore-in-Chief Portsmouth, this evening attended a Trafalgar Night Dinner on HMS Excellent, Whale Island, Portsmouth, Hampshire.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited Maplefields School, Tower Hill Road, Corby, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northamptonshire (the Lady Juliet Townsend).

His Royal Highness this afternoon officially opened Tresham College, Oakley Road, Corby.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent today visited Calibre UK Limited, Cornwall House, Cornwall Terrace, Bradford, and was received by Mr Tim Hare (Vice Lord-Lieutenant designate of West Yorkshire).

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, the Railway Station, Haworth, West Yorkshire.

The Duke of Kent, President, the Scout Association, later visited the 34th Bradford South Scout Group, Methodist Hall, Great Horton Road, Bradford.
