COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Queen this morning opened the newly developed Jubilee Gardens on the South Bank, London SE1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer), the Chairman of the Jubilee Gardens Trust (Mr Edward Inman) and the Mayor of the London Borough of Lambeth (Councillor Clive Bennett).

Her Majesty afterwards visited the British Film Institute Southbank, the South Bank Centre, London SE1, and was received by the Chairman of Governors (Mr Gregory Dyke) and Mrs Amanda Nevill (Chief Executive).

The Queen, escorted by the Chairman of Governors and the Chief Executive, toured the Institute, meeting Governors and Directors, staff and film producers, watching school students in a practical workshop and viewing a short film montage on the history of film.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Captain General, Royal Marines, today visited 43 Commando Fleet Protection Group at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Clyde, Faslane, and was received by Her Majesty’s LordLieutenant of Dunbartonshire (Rear Admiral Michael Gregory).

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

By command of Her Majesty, Mr Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Kitti Wasinondh at 9 Tregunter Road, London SW10, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from Thailand to the Court of St James’s.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, Life Member, the Royal British Legion, this morning received Mrs Wendy Bromwich (National Chairman, the Royal British Legion Women’s Section) and Mrs Marilyn Humphry (National Vice Chairman of the Women’s Section).

His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Trust, received Mr Richard Libbey upon relinquishing his appointment as Director of The Prince’s Trust-Cymru.

The Prince of Wales received the Governor of the Bank of England (Sir Mervyn King).

His Royal Highness this afternoon held an Integrated Health Meeting at Clarence House.

The Prince of Wales received the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP (Secretary of State for Education).

The Duke of York this morning received Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan (Mr Peter Bateman).

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of London, this morning attended a Scientific Symposium to launch the new Birth Defects Research Centre at University College London Institute of Child Health, 30 Guildford Street, London WC1.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Honorary Colonel, University of London Officers’ Training Corps, later received Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Methven at Buckingham Palace upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Paul Stanley upon assuming the appointment.

The Princess Royal, President, Animal Health Trust, this afternoon held a Fellowship Reception at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, Honorary Air Commodore, Royal Air Force Brize Norton, afterwards received Group Captain Domonic Stamp upon relinquishing his appointment as Station Commander and Group Captain Stephen Lushington upon assuming the appointment.

The Princess Royal, Commandant-in-Chief (Youth), St John Ambulance, subsequently held a Young Achievers’ Reception at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, British Quality Foundation, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended the Annual United Kingdom Excellence Awards Ceremony and Dinner at the Hotel Inter-Continental, 1 Hamilton Place, London W1.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Royal Patron, the British-German Association, this morning received Mr Stephen Watson (Chairman).
