COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace 

The Rt Hon Gregory Knight MP (Vice Chamberlain of the Household) was received in audience by The Queen today and presented an Address from the House of Commons to which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to make reply.

Mr John Agard was received by The Queen when Her Majesty presented him with The Queen’s Gold Medal for Poetry.

The Poet Laureate (Professor Carol Ann Duffy) was present.

The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Jonathan Knott (the Republic of Hungary), Mr Bruce Bucknell (the Republic of Belarus) and Dr Philip Moyle (the Republic of Mali).

Mrs Knott was also received by Her Majesty.

Mr Michael Nevin was received by The Queen upon his appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Malawi.

Mrs Nevin was also received by Her Majesty.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, British Heart Foundation, this morning received Mr Peter Hollins upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive and Mr Simon Gillespie upon assuming the appointment.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Wildscreen, this afternoon gave a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Action Medical Research, this evening held a Reception at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

By command of The Queen, Mr Charles Gray (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Giorgi Badridze at 4 Russell Gardens, London W14, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from Georgia to the Court of St James’s.

Clarence House 

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, accompanied by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad and Princess Wijdan bint Fawaz Al-Hashemi, today carried out engagements in Amman, Jordan.

The Prince of Wales this morning visited King Hussein Mosque and joined an inter-faith discussion given by the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later called upon The King and Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at Hummar Palace.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Rubicon Studios.

The Prince of Wales, President, The Prince’s Youth Business International, and President, Business in the Community, afterwards attended, in the presence of The King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, an Enterprise Conference at the Intercontinental Hotel.

The Prince of Wales later called upon the Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the Prime Ministry.

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this evening attended a Reception at the Royal Automobile Museum, Al Madina At Tibbiyya.

The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Children’s Museum.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon viewed the Madrasati project at Mahis Secondary School for Girls and was received by The Queen of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The Duke of York this morning received Mr Li Fanrong (Chief Executive Officer and President, CNOOC Limited).

The Earl and Countess of Wessex this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for the Czech Republic and were received upon arrival this afternoon at Václav Havel Airport Prague by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic (Her Excellency Miss Sian MacLeod).

Their Royal Highnesses later called upon The President of the Czech Republic at Prague Castle.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex subsequently visited Lobkowicz Palace Museum, Lobkowicz Palace, Prague.

Their Royal Highnesses this evening this evening attended a Dinner given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic at the Residence in Prague.

Brigadier John Smedley and Mrs Philippa Southgate-Sands are in attendance.

Buckingham Palace 

The Princess Royal, Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, this afternoon visited the Trinity House Harwich Depot, the Quay, Harwich, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Essex (the Lord Petre).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Chancellor, this morning opened the Peirson Study and Guidance Centre at St John’s Campus, University of Worcester, Henwick Grove, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Worcestershire (Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Holcroft).

His Royal Highness this afternoon unveiled the Malvern Buzzards Statue to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in Rosebank Gardens, Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern.

St James’s Palace 

The Duke of Kent this morning visited Rotherham United Community Stadium, New York Way, Rotherham, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of South Yorkshire (Mr David Moody).

His Royal Highness today visited the Royal Society for Protection of Birds Old Moor site, Barnsley.

The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Kostal Limited, Goldthorpe Industrial Estate, Commercial Road, Goldthorpe, Rotherham.

His Royal Highness later visited ASOS, Park Spring Road, Grimethorpe, Barnsley.

The Duke of Kent this evening attended a Reception to launch Friends of the Trustees of the Mihai Eminescu Trust given by the Ambassador from Romania at Romanian Cultural Institute, One Belgrave Square, London SW1.

His Royal Highness, Honorary Liveryman, Worshipful Company of Clothworkers, later attended a Dinner at St James’s Palace.
