Buckingham Palace
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning arrived at Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester (Mr Warren Smith).
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness drove to the Co-operative Group Limited at 1 Angel Square, Manchester, and were received by the Chairman (Mr Leonard Wardle), Mr. Euan Sutherland (Chief Executive) and the Lord Mayor of Manchester (Councillor Naeem ul Hassan).
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Chief Executive and the Chairman, toured the building, meeting staff and viewing displays of the Company’s diverse activities, before Her Majesty opened the new Headquarters.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh afterwards visited the Factory Youth Zone, 931 Rochdale Road, Harpurhey, Manchester, and were received by the Chairman (Mrs Katharine Vokes and Mr Paul Bird (Chief Executive Officer).
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness, escorted respectively by the Chairman and the Chief Executive Officer, visited the sports hall, kitchens and gymnasium, viewing activities taking place and meeting young people.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Admiral Sir George Zambellas (First Sea Lord and Chief of the Naval Staff, First and Principal Naval Aide-de-Camp to The Queen) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Admiral Sir John Woodward (formerly Flag Aide-de-Camp to The Queen) which was held in Chichester Cathedral this afternoon.
The Duke of York was represented by Vice Admiral Rory McLean.

Today is the Anniversary of the Birthday of The Prince of Wales.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited Mattancherry Palace Museum, Kochi, India.
Their Royal Highnesses later visited the Jewish Synagogue, Kochi.
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall afterwards visited the Jew Street Spice Market and Bazaar, Kochi.
Their Royal Highnesses subsequently departed Cochin International Airport, Kerala, for Sri Lanka and were received upon arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo, this afternoon by the British High Commissioner to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (His Excellency Mr John Rankin).
The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall later attended a Reception at the British High Commissioner’s Residence for members of the British expatriate community and Sri Lankans and were received by Mr R. Bulloch (Deputy British High Commissioner to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka).
His Royal Highness, on behalf of The Queen, afterwards held an Investiture at the Residence.
The Prince of Wales was received by The President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka this evening.

Prince Henry of Wales, Patron, this afternoon attended the formal departure of the Walking with the Wounded Allied South Pole Challenge in Trafalgar Square, London WC2.
Buckingham Palace
The Earl of Wessex, Patron, British Paralympic Association, this morning held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.
His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award International Foundation, this afternoon held a World Fellowship Welcome Lunch at Buckingham Palace.
The Earl of Wessex, Master, the Worshipful Company of Gardeners, later attended the Autumn Court and Dinner at Painters’ Hall, 9 Little Trinity Lane, London EC4.

Her Royal Highness, President, Animal Health Trust, this afternoon received Dr Peter Webbon upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive and Dr Mark Vaudin upon assuming the appointment.
