The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, today received Brigadier Michael Griffiths upon relinquishing his appointment as Colonel and Brigadier Peter Rafferty upon assuming the appointment.
Her Majesty, Colonel-in-Chief, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, received Colonel Michael Diss upon relinquishing his appointment as Honorary Colonel 4th Battalion and Mr Jeremy Gorick upon assuming the appointment.
The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, received Lieutenant Colonel Nicholas Wood upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 1st Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel George Maund upon assuming the appointment.
The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr John Freeman (the Argentine Republic), Mr Fergus Cochrane-Dyet (Republic of Liberia) and Miss Jan Thompson (Czech Republic).
Mrs Freeman and Mrs Cochrane-Dyet were also received by Her Majesty.
Miss Alison Blackburne was received in audience by The Queen upon her appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Uganda.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this evening gave a Reception to recognise Contemporary British Poetry at Buckingham Palace.
The Princess Royal and Princess Michael of Kent were present.
The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Shakespeare Globe Trust, this morning opened the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse at Shakespeare’s Globe, New Globe Walk, London SE1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

The Prince of Wales this evening received the judges of the Sun Military Awards.
His Royal Highness afterwards gave a Reception for the Anglo Romanian Trust for Traditional Architecture and the Global Heritage Fund at Clarence House.
The Prince of Wales later attended the Churchillian Award Dinner, 8 Northumberland Avenue, London WC2.
His Royal Highness, formerly Director, the Commonwealth Development Corporation, was represented by the Earl of Home at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Lord Kindersley (formerly Chairman) which was held in the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1, this afternoon.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, this evening held a Patrons’ Dinner at St James’s Palace.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Patron, Scottish Opera, this evening attended a performance of Don Giovanni at the Festival Theatre, 13-29 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh, and was received by Ms Sandra Cumming (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh).
