Buckingham Palace

The Queen, Patron, and The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited the Royal Commonwealth Society at Award House, 7-11 St. Matthew Street, London SW1, followed by the offices of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, of which His Royal Highness is Founder and Patron, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer), the Director of the Royal Commonwealth Society (Mr. Michael Lake) and the Secretary General of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (Mr. John May).

The Queen, escorted by the Director, and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted by the Secretary General, received briefings and viewed key projects relating to both organisations and met members of staff, donors and trustees.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Thrombosis Research Institute, this morning received Professor the Lord Kakkar (President).

His Royal Highness received Dr. Martin Palmer (Secretary General, Alliance of Religions and Conservation) and representatives of the International Confucian Ecological Alliance.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Britain-Australia Society, this evening held a Reception at St. James’s Palace.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, Founder, Mosaic, and President, Business in the Community, this morning received Mr. Khawar Mann (Chairman, Mosaic), Mr. Jonathan Freeman (National Director) and Mr. Stephen Howard (Chief Executive, Business in the Community).

His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Initiative for Mature Enterprise, later held a Meeting.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Step Up To Serve, this afternoon received Miss Charlotte Hill upon assuming the appointment as Chief Executive.

General Sir Nicholas Parker (Trustee) was present.

His Royal Highness, President, The Prince’s Trust, this afternoon attended the United Kingdom Finals of the Celebrate Success Awards at the Odeon Cinema, Leicester Square, London WC2.

The Prince of Wales, President, the National Trust for Places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, this evening held a Reception at Clarence House.

The Duchess of Cornwall this morning attended the Cheltenham Festival at Cheltenham Racecourse, Gloucestershire, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Dame Janet Trotter).

The Duke of York this morning received Ministers and businessmen from Nigeria.

His Royal Highness afterwards received Mr. Amr Al Dabbagh (Founding Chairman, Stars Foundation).

The Duke of York this afternoon attended a Meeting with the Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean at the House of Lords, London SW1.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, this afternoon visited Award House, 7-11 St. Matthew Street, London SW1.

The Countess of Wessex, Patron, Lions Clubs International, Multiple District 105, British Isles and Ireland, this morning held a Meeting.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester today visited Fordhall Organic Farm, Tern Hill Road, Market Drayton, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire (Sir Algernon Heber-Percy).

His Royal Highness this afternoon opened the Redwoods Centre, Somerby Drive, Bicton Heath, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards opened the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre at Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Mytton Oak Road, Shrewsbury.

His Royal Highness later visited Ditherington Flax Mill, Ditherington, Shrewsbury.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys), today received Colonel Jonathan Bartholomew upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant-Colonel Benjamin Cattermole upon assuming the appointment.

His Royal Highness, Visitor, this afternoon attended the Annual Dinner at Cranfield University, Cranfield, Bedfordshire.

The Duke of Kent was represented by Mr. Nicolas Adamson at a Service to celebrate the Life and Work of Sir David Frost in Westminster Abbey, London SW1, today.

Appendix to Court Circular

The Queen has been pleased to appoint the Reverend Canon Kevan McCormack to be a Chaplain to Her Majesty.
