The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, Corps of Royal Engineers, received General Sir Peter Wall today upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Royal Engineer and Lieutenant General Sir Mark Mans upon assuming the appointment.
General Sir Peter Wall (as Chief of the General Staff) was received afterwards by Her Majesty.
The Very Reverend John Hall (Dean of Westminster) was received by The Queen.
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Sir Alan Reid (Keeper of the Privy Purse and Treasurer to The Queen) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Lives of Sir Peter and Lady Miles which was held in the Church of St John the Baptist, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, this afternoon.
The Duke of York was represented by Sir John Parsons.
The Princess Royal was represented by the Hon Mrs Legge-Bourke.

The Princess Royal, Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, this morning attended the International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities Conference at Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, Muele de Transatlánticos, A Coruña, Spain.
Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Town Hall, Plaza de María Pita, A Coruña.
The Princess Royal, Master, the Corporation of Trinity House, afterwards visited the Tower of Hercules Lighthouse, Avenida Navarra, A Coruña.
Her Royal Highness later arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Spain.
The Princess Royal, Patron, the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening attended a Reception onboard HMS MONTROSE at Thames Quay, London E14, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester this afternoon opened the Wilson Art Gallery and Museum, Clarence Street, Cheltenham, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Dame Janet Trotter).
His Royal Highness, Patron, accompanied by The Duchess of Gloucester, this evening opened the newly renovated Soldiers of Gloucestershire Museum, Custom House, 31 Commercial Road, Gloucester.
The Duke of Gloucester was represented by Sir David Brewer (Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London) at the Memorial Service for Mr. Andrew Stuart (former Resident Commissioner of New Hebrides) which was held in Holy Trinity Brompton with St. Paul’s, Onslow Square, Brompton Road, London SW7, this afternoon.
