Buckingham Palace

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this evening arrived at Glasgow Central Railway Station and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Sadie Docherty, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh drove to Celtic Park Stadium, Glasgow, and were received by Prince Imran (President of the Commonwealth Games Federation) and the Chairman of Glasgow 2014 (the Lord Smith of Kelvin).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were also received by the Prime Minister and the Commonwealth Secretary-General (His Excellency Mr Kamalesh Sharma).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attended a Reception for Heads of State and Government.

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, viewed the Opening Ceremony and the Parade of Athletes, and afterwards opened the XX Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014.

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay and The Duchess of Rothesay and The Earl of Wessex, Vice Patron, the Commonwealth Games Federation, and The Countess of Wessex also attended.

Clarence House

The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay and The Duchess of Rothesay this morning visited Emirates Arena, 1000 London Road, Glasgow.

His Royal Highness, Patron, and Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited Scottish Ballet, Tramway, Albert Drive, Glasgow, and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Sadie Docherty, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

The Earl of Wessex, Vice Patron, the Commonwealth Games Federation, this morning attended the Commonwealth Games Business Conference at Glasgow City Chambers, Glasgow.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal this morning visited the Dawyck Estate and toured the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh at Dawyck, Stobo, Peebles, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Tweeddale (Professor Sir Hew Strachen).

Her Royal Highness, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, later attended the Tweeddale Group Thirtieth Anniversary Celebrations at Crookston Farm, Peebles.

The Princess Royal, Visitor, this afternoon visited Strathcarron Hospice, Randolph Hill, Fankerton, Denny, Stirlingshire, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk (Mrs Marjory McLachlan).

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, University of Edinburgh Club of London, this evening held a One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary Dinner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, President, British Society of Master Glass Painters, this morning held a Meeting at Kensington Palace.
