COURT CIRCULAR

Palace of Holyroodhouse

The Queen held an Investiture at the Palace of Holyroodhouse this morning.

The Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP (First Minister of the Scottish Government) was received in audience by Her Majesty today.

The Rt Hon Patricia Marwick MSP (Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament) was received in audience by The Queen.

The Lord Hope of Craighead KT (Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland) was received by Her Majesty and reported on the recent proceedings of the General Assembly.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Callander, winner of the annual shooting event of The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, was presented to Her Majesty and received The Queen’s Prize.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The Earl of Wessex and The Princess Royal were present.

The Queen’s Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers and the High Constables of the Palace of Holyroodhouse were on duty.

The Royal Marine Band Scotland, the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and the Royal Scottish Pipers’ Society played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, this afternoon held a Luncheon at the Balmoral Hotel, 1 Princes Street, Edinburgh.

By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Pekka Huhtaniemi at 38 Chesham Place, London SW1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Finland to the Court of St James’s.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales, Honorary Commodore, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, this afternoon opened the new National Maritime Operations Centre, Abbey Park, Southampton Road, Fareham, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr Nigel Atkinson).

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Combined Operations Pilotage Parties Heroes Memorial Fund, later attended a Dedication Service at the Memorial, Hayling Island, Hampshire.

The Prince of Wales, Colonel-in-Chief, this evening attended Beating Retreat to mark the Two Hundredth Anniversary of The Royal Gurkha Rifles and subsequently joined a Reception for Service personnel from the 2nd Battalion and their families at Sir John Moore Barracks, Shorncliffe Camp, Folkestone, Kent.

The Duchess of Cornwall this morning received representatives from Floral Angels, a London charity which recycles donated flowers from events.

Her Royal Highness afterwards visited the Royal Horticultural Society’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, East Molesey, Surrey, and was received by Dr Paul Knapman (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning departed Heathrow Airport, London, for Papua New Guinea.

Lieutenant Jack Cooper RN is in attendance.

The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Logistic Corps, this morning visited The Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment at Gale Barracks, Alison’s Road, Aldershot, Hampshire, to mark the Two Hundredth Anniversary.

Her Royal Highness, Guardian, Give Them A Sporting Chance, this evening attended a Dinner near Kirknewton and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Donald Wilson, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Kensington Palace

Duke of Gloucester today visited Buckinghamshire and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Bt).

His Royal Highness this morning attended the Buckingham County Council Citizenship Ceremony at Taplow Court to commemorate the signing of the Magna Carta.

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon opened the new swimming pool at Alfriston School, Penn Road, Knotty Green, Beaconsfield.

His Royal Highness afterwards presented The Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade to Randall Woolcott Services Group at Europa House, Chiltern Park, Chiltern Hill, Chalfont St Peter.

The Duke of Gloucester later attended a Reception in support of Universal Care at Bradbury House, Windsor End, Beaconsfield.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary President, the Lawn Tennis Association, this afternoon attended the Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, Wimbledon, London SW19.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, today attended the Lawn Tennis Championships at Church Road, Wimbledon, London SW19.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint the Reverend Professor David Fergusson to be a Chaplain to Her Majesty in Scotland in succession to the Very Reverend Dr Finlay Macdonald.
