Buckingham Palace
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were present at a Service in Westminster Abbey this morning on the occasion of the Inauguration of the Tenth General Synod of the Church of England.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received by the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey and by the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Archbishop of York.
At the conclusion of the Service, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh proceeded to Church House for the Inauguration Ceremony of the Tenth General Synod of the Church of England.
Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were welcomed by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Queen read the formal Declaration of Inauguration and was graciously pleased to address the Synod.
The Archbishop of York replied.
The Duke of Edinburgh, President Emeritus, World Wide Fund for Nature International, this afternoon presented The Duke of Edinburgh Conservation Award and held a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace.
By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Lim Sungnam at 60 Buckingham Gate, London SW1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Korea to the Court of St James’s.

His Royal Highness, Patron, this afternoon attended a Celebration to mark the Second Anniversary of Step Up To Serve at Wayra UK, Shropshire House, 2-10 Capper Street, London WC1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr Kenneth Olisa).
The Prince of Wales later received Father Raniero Cantalamessa (the Preacher to the Papal Household).
His Royal Highness, President, the Three Choirs Festival Association, this evening attended a Tercentenary Celebration Concert at Buckingham Palace.

The Earl of Wessex, Chairman, International Special Projects, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, and The Countess of Wessex this evening held a Dinner.
The Countess of Wessex this morning visited the School of Jewellery, Birmingham City University, Vittoria Street, Birmingham, to mark their One Hundred and Twenty Fifth Anniversary and was received by Colonel George Marsh (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of West Midlands).
Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened Phase One of the new University College Birmingham, Holland Street, Birmingham.
The Countess of Wessex later presented The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services to Happy Hours, the Elton Centre, St John’s Road, Stourbridge, and was received by Major Sylvia Parkin (Deputy Lieutenant of West Midlands).

The Duke of Gloucester afterwards visited Hotwells Primary School, Hope Chapel Hill, Hotwells, Bristol, to commemorate the Tenth Anniversary of their Garden for Life.
