By command of The Queen, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon Her Excellency Mrs Aloun Ndombet- Assam at 1-2 Prince Consort Drive, London SW7, this morning in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as High Commissioner for Jamaica in London.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning arrived at Beijing International Airport and was received by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China (Her Excellency Ms Barbara Woodward).

His Royal Highness this afternoon held a Pitch@Palace Lunch at the Rosewood Hotel, Beijing.

The Duke of York, Fellow, the Royal Society, later received Professor Bai Chunli (President, Chinese Academy of Sciences) at the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing.

His Royal Highness was afterwards received by The President of the People’s Republic of China at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal this afternoon visited Heap and Partners Limited, Canada Works, Corporation Road, Birkenhead, to mark its One Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside (Dame Lorna Muirhead).

Her Royal Highness later opened United Utilities Liverpool Waste- water Treatment Works, Sandon Dock, Regent Road, Liverpool.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, the Building Centre Trust, this afternoon received Mr Colin Tweedy (Chief Executive).
