Windsor Castle

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Royal Mail Windsor Delivery Office, William Street, Windsor, to commemorate the Five Hundredth Anniversary of Royal Mail and were received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr. James Puxley), the Chairman of Royal Mail Group (Mr. Peter Long) and Mrs. Moya Greene (Chief Executive, Royal Mail).

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness toured the offices and met members of staff, viewing the operation of the Caller’s Office and a demonstration of mail sorting, before viewing an exhibition on “500 Years of Royal Mail” and the Ninetieth Birthday stamp.

The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, subsequently named the delivery office, The Queen Elizabeth Delivery Office.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards drove to Alexandra Gardens, Barry Avenue, Windsor, and were received by Mr. Mark Taylor (Head of Libraries, Arts and Heritage, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead), Mr. Jonathan Howe (Landscape Officer, Project Manager, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead) and the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (Councillor Eileen Quick).

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh walked into the gardens, viewed exhibition panels showing the design of the new bandstand and met school children who were involved in designing the bandstand’s commemorative plaques depicting the role of the Armed Forces, before listening to a choral performance by a local children’s choir and viewing an excerpt from “Romeo and Juliet” by the Schools Shakespeare Festival.

Her Majesty, accompanied by His Royal Highness, subsequently opened the new bandstand.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Patron, Greenwich Hospital, this morning opened Greenwich Market, London SE10, and was received by Dr. Pieter van der Merwe (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

His Royal Highness, Grand Master, the Honourable Company of Air Pilots, later received Mr. Christopher Ford upon relinquishing his appointment as Master and Captain Peter Benn upon assuming the appointment.

The Duke of York this evening attended a Dinner at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London W1, on the occasion of the Centenary of the British Spanish Society.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Royal Honorary Colonel, The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, this morning held a Meeting.

The Countess of Wessex today visited Northumberland and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland (the Duchess of Northumberland).

Her Royal Highness this morning visited the Coquet Shorebase Trust, the Braid, Amble.

The Countess of Wessex afterwards visited the Pride of Northumbria Shop, Fourways Bridge Street, Amble. Her Royal Highness later visited Amble Harbour Village, Leazes Street, Amble.

The Countess of Wessex subsequently opened a new play area at Gordon Villas, Amble.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Blyth Tall Ship project at the Quayside, Blyth.

The Countess of Wessex afterwards attended a Tea Party at the Isabella Community Centre, Ogle Drive, Blyth, to celebrate The Queen’s Ninetieth Birthday.

Her Royal Highness later visited Hexham Abbey, Beaumont Street, Hexham, and was received by Mrs. Bryony Gibson (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland).

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Royal Patron, Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, this morning received Air Chief Marshal Sir Richard Johns upon relinquishing his appointment as President and Sir Stuart Hampson upon assuming the appointment.

Her Royal Highness, President, Save the Children UK, afterwards received Mr. Justin Forsyth upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive.

The Princess Royal, Colonel, The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), this afternoon attended the Household Cavalry Freedom of the City of London Parade and Reception at Guildhall, London EC2.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Foundation for FutureLondon, later visited the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and attended a Reception at the ArcelorMittal Orbit, London E20, having been received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa).

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of London, this evening attended the City University London Chancellor’s Dinner at the Mansion House, London EC4.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Pestalozzi International Village Trust, this morning opened the Pestalozzi Centre, Ladybird Lane, Sedlescombe, and was received by Mrs. Sara Stonor (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex).

His Royal Highness later visited East Hill Funicular Railway, East Hill, Rock-a-Nore Road, Hastings, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex (Mr. Peter Field).

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon opened the Source Park at Source BMX, White Rock, Hastings.

His Royal Highness afterwards visited Jerwood Gallery, Rock-a-Nore Road, Hastings.

The Duke of Gloucester subsequently opened Saxon House, Meeching Road, Newhaven, East Sussex.

St. James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent today visited Surrey and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant (Mr. Michael More-Molyneux).

His Royal Highness this morning dedicated the War Memorial at Ripley Court School, Rose Lane, Ripley.

The Duke of Kent later visited Gordon Murray Design Limited, Wharfside, Broadford Business Park, Shalford.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited Silent Pool Distillery, Shere Road, Albury.

The Duke of Kent afterwards visited Albury Organic Vineyard, Shere Road, Albury.
