COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Baroness Scotland of Asthal was received by The Queen today upon her appointment as Commonwealth Secretary-General.

Her Majesty received the Bishop of Leicester (the Right Reverend Martyn Snow) who did homage upon his appointment.

The Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP (Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice) administered the Oath.

The Bishop of Carlisle (Clerk of the Closet) was in attendance.

The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

There were present: the Rt. Hon. Christopher Grayling MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Alun Cairns MP (Secretary of State for Wales), the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt MP (Secretary of State, Department of Health) and the Rt. Hon. Theresa Villiers MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland).

Mrs. Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

The Rt. Hon. Christopher Grayling MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

The Rt. Hon. David Cameron MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Action Medical Research, held a Reception at Buckingham Palace this evening.

Clarence House

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this morning attended a Reception and viewed recent restoration work at Canada House, Trafalgar Square, London SW1, and were received by the Canadian High Commissioner (His Excellency Mr. Gordon Campbell).

His Royal Highness later received His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Masoud bin Ali Al-Sunaidi (Omani Minister of Trade and Industry) at Clarence House.

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Marie Curie Cancer Care, this afternoon held a Reception at Clarence House.

His Royal Highness afterwards received Mr. Niall Dunne (Chief Sustainability Officer, British Telecom Plc).

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall this evening attended a Reception for British winners of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Awards at St. James’s Palace. The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, the London Chamber Orchestra, this afternoon attended a “Music Junction” rehearsal at People’s Palace, Queen Mary University of London, 327 Mile End Road, London E1, and was received by Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Traverse-Healy (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Kensington Palace

The Duchess of Cambridge this morning officially opened the Magic Garden at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Anna Freud Centre, this afternoon attended a Lunch at Spencer House, 27 St. James’s Place, London SW1.

The Duchess of Cambridge, Patron, National Portrait Gallery, this evening visited the “Vogue 100: a Century of Style” exhibition at the Gallery, St. Martin’s Place, London WC2.

Prince Henry of Wales, Patron, this afternoon took part in the Sentebale Royal Salute Polo Cup Match in Wellington, Palm Beach, Florida, United States of America.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, today carried out engagements to celebrate the Diamond Anniversary.

His Royal Highness this afternoon participated in the Peak District Diamond Challenge Walk from Edale to Bowden Bridge and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Derbyshire (Mr. William Tucker).

The Earl of Wessex this evening attended a Dinner in Derbyshire.

The Countess of Wessex, President, Brainwave, this afternoon held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace.

Her Royal Highness later chaired a charities forum at Buckingham Palace.

St. James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent this morning visited Astley Hall Farm, Smorrall Lane, Bedworth, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire (Mr. Timothy Cox).

His Royal Highness afterwards officially re-opened King George’s Field, Barford, Warwickshire.

The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Prodrive, Chalker Way, Banbury, and was received by Mr. John Harwood (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire).

Buckingham Palace

Princess Alexandra this afternoon opened Avonbourne Care Centre, Old Sarum, Salisbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mrs. Peter Troughton).

Her Royal Highness afterwards visited the Stonemasons’ Yard, Salisbury Cathedral.
