Buckingham Palace

The following were received in audience by The Queen today and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr. Edward Ferguson (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Mr. Francis Baker (the Republic of Iraq), Mr. Ian Richards (the State of Eritrea) and Mr. Michael Aron (the Republic of Sudan).

Mrs. Ferguson, Ms. Maria Pilar and Ms. K. Orrick were also received by Her Majesty.

This afternoon The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace for past and present Commanding Officers of The Queen’s Birthday Parade.

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Veterans Aid’s New Belvedere House hostel, 87-90 White Horse Road, London E1, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa).

His Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, The Rifles, this evening took the salute at Sounding Retreat on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.

By command of The Queen, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Md Abdul Hannan at 28 Queen’s Gate, London SW7, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in London.

Kensington Palace

Prince Henry of Wales this evening attended a Reception for Normandy Veterans, at Southwick House, Southwick, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr. Nigel Atkinson).

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York this morning received Her Excellency Madame Tong Thi Phong (Vice President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) and a delegation of Members of Parliament from the National Assembly.

His Royal Highness this afternoon held a Meeting at Buckingham Palace with a delegation of Thai businessmen.

The Duke of York, Patron, Falklands Conservation, this evening held a Reception at St James’s Palace.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Foundation for Liver Research, later held a Dinner at Buckingham Palace.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Northern Lighthouse Board, this afternoon visited Mousa Lighthouse, Peerie Bard, Shetland.

The Duke of Kent, Royal Colonel, 1st Battalion The Rifles, this evening attended Sounding Retreat on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.

Princess Alexandra, Royal Colonel, 3rd Battalion The Rifles, this evening attended Sounding Retreat on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.
