Buckingham Palace
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited East Anglian Air Ambulance and were received at Cambridge Airport, Newmarket Road, Cambridge, by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Sir Hugh Duberly), the Chairman of East Anglian Air Ambulance (Major General Sir William Cubitt), Mr Andrew Egerton-Smith (Honorary President and Founder) and the Mayor of Cambridge (Councillor Jeremy Benstead).
Her Majesty, escorted by the Chairman, and His Royal Highness, escorted by Mr Patrick Peal (Chief Executive) visited the Crew Room, met crew members and viewed a helicopter and kit.
The Queen officially opened the Egerton-Smith Centre.
The Rt Hon David Cameron MP had an audience of The Queen this afternoon and tendered his resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to accept.
Mrs Cameron was also received by The Queen.
Her Majesty received in audience the Rt Hon Theresa May MP and requested her to form a new Administration.
The Rt Hon. Theresa May MP accepted The Queen’s offer and kissed hands upon her appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.
Mr Philip May was also received by Her Majesty.
The Queen held a Council at 5.30pm.
There were present: the Rt Hon Christopher Grayling MP (Lord President), the Rt Hon Gregory Clark MP (Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government), the Rt Hon Amber Rudd MP (Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change) and the Baroness Stowell of Beeston (Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords).
The Rt Hon Sir David Richards was sworn in as a member of Her Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.
Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.
The Rt Hon Christopher Grayling MP had an audience of The Queen before the Council.

The Prince of Wales, Chairman, the Royal Collection Trust, this morning chaired a Meeting of the Trustees.
His Royal Highness this afternoon received serving members of the No. 25 “Prince of Wales” Cadet Wing of the New Zealand Police.
The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, British Equestrian Federation, this morning received Mr Andrew Finding upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief Executive and Mrs Clare Salmon upon assuming the appointment.
Her Royal Highness, Honorary Member, the Jockey Club, received Mr Roger Weatherby (Senior Steward) and Mr Simon Bazalgette (Chief Executive).
The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron, Foundation Years Trust, this evening attended a Reception for supporters at the House of Lords, London SW1.

The Duke of York this morning received Mr Robert Dudley (Group Chief Executive, British Petroleum plc).
His Royal Highness, Patron, Council of British International Schools, this afternoon received Mr Trevor Rowell (Chairman).
The Duke of York, Patron, English National Ballet afterwards received Mr Justin Bickle (Chairman) and Mr Patrick Harrison (Executive Director).
His Royal Highness, Fellow, the Royal Society, later gave a Tea at Buckingham Palace for University Research, Sir Henry Dale and Dorothy Hodgkin Fellows.
The Duke of York this evening held a Dinner at St James’s Palace in support of youth employment.

The Countess of Wessex, Colonel-in-Chief, Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps Association, this morning attended a ceremony for the presentation of the Firmin Sword of Peace at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Camberley, Surrey, followed by Luncheon.
Her Royal Highness, Colonel-in-Chief, Corps of Army Music, this evening attended the Third Summer Concert at Kneller Hall, Kneller Road, Twickenham, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr Kenneth Olisa).

Her Royal Highness, President, Riding for the Disabled Association, this afternoon visited Lowlands Farm Group, Shrewley, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire (Mr Timothy Cox).
The Princess Royal, President, the City and Guilds of London Institute, later attended the inaugural Princess Royal Training Awards Commissioners’ Meeting at 1 Giltspur Street, London EC1.
