COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry, today received Major General Andrew Farquhar upon relinquishing his appointment as Honorary Colonel and Colonel David Leigh upon assuming the appointment.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, this evening attended a Dinner at the Travellers Club, 106 Pall Mall, London SW1, to mark the Sixty Fifth Anniversary of The Queen’s Accession.

The Duke of Cambridge, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Rt. Hon. Sir John Major KG (formerly Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Lord Mayhew of Twysden (formerly Secretary of State for Northern Ireland) which was held at St. Margaret’s Church, Westminster Abbey, London SW1, today.

The Prince of Wales was represented by the Earl of Caledon.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Earl Peel (Lord Chamberlain) at the Memorial Service for Lieutenant Colonel Gordon Birdwood (Senior Gentleman Usher to The Queen) which was held at the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, London SW1, this afternoon.

The Duke of York was represented by Major William McLean.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex were represented by Brigadier Alastair Bruce of Crionaich.

The Princess Royal was represented by Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were represented by Mrs. Grant Baker.

Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy was represented by Mrs. Peter Afia.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Cambridge, Colonel, Irish Guards, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Turner upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer and Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Palmer upon assuming the appointment.

Buckingham Palace

The Duke of York, Patron, the Royal Society for Asian Affairs, this morning received Sir David John upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and Mr. Frank Slevin upon assuming the appointment.

The Lord Davies of Abersoch (President) and Mr. Allan Attryde (Secretary) were present.

His Royal Highness received Mr. Robert Williams (Chairman, Insigma HengTian Software Services) and Ms. Karym Murphy (Managing Director).

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex this afternoon departed Gatwick Airport, London, for Bermuda and was received upon arrival at L. F. Wade International Airport, Hamilton, this evening by the Governor of Bermuda (His Excellency Mr. John Rankin).

Mr. Timothy Roberts is in attendance.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, President, National Equine Forum, today attended the Annual Forum at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1 Birdcage Walk, London SW1, and was received by Mr. David Dangoor (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the British School of Osteopathy, this evening held a Centenary Reception at St. James’s Palace.
