COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The following were received in audience by The Queen today and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty’s Ambassadors: Mr Nicholas Hopton (Islamic Republic of Iran) and Mr Simon Shercliff (Republic of Yemen).

Mrs Echenique de Hopton and Mrs Shercliff were also received by Her Majesty.

Mr John Rankin was received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon his appointment as Governor of Bermuda.

Mr Augustus Jaspert was received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon his appointment as Governor of the British Virgin Islands.

Mrs Jaspert was also received by Her Majesty.

Miss Shelley Chambers was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested her with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the National Maritime Museum, this afternoon visited The Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre, Nelson Mandela Road, London SE3.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Cambridge this morning departed from Royal Air Force Northolt for Finland and was received later upon arrival at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Finland (Her Excellency Miss Sarah Price) and subsequently undertook engagements in Helsinki.

His Royal Highness this afternoon was received by The President of the Republic of Finland at the Presidential Palace.

The Duke of Cambridge later visited Salmisaari Ice Rink to view the work of Icehearts.

His Royal Highness subsequently attended a Reception to celebrate the scientific, educational and cultural links between the United Kingdom and Finland given by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Republic of Finland at the British Embassy.

The Duke of Cambridge this evening attended a Dinner given by The President of the Republic of Finland at Mäntyniemi.

Mr Miguel Head and Sir David Manning are in attendance.

The Duchess of Cambridge this morning visited Robin Hood Primary School, Bowness Crescent, Kingston Vale, London SW15, to celebrate Ten Years of the Royal Horticultural Society Campaign for School Gardening.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon convened a Roundtable at Kensington Palace with experts in positive parenting and early years support.

Buckingham Palace

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, today attended Receptions at St James’s Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.

The Countess of Wessex this morning visited Park House School, Andover Road, Newbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr James Puxley).

Her Royal Highness afterwards opened the renovated Coral Reef Waterworld, Nine Mile Ride, Bracknell.

Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, the University of Edinburgh, this morning opened the renovated McEwan Hall, Bristo Square, Edinburgh, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Francis Ross, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Her Royal Highness, Chancellor, the University of Edinburgh, afterwards opened St Cecilia’s Concert Hall and Museum, Niddry Street, Cowgate, Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal, Warden, Gordonstoun School, this afternoon received Mr Simon Reid upon relinquishing his appointment as Headmaster and Mr Titus Edge upon assuming the appointment, and Mrs Lisa Kerr upon assuming the appointment as Principal.

Her Royal Highness afterwards attended a Centenary Service for Dr Elsie Inglis in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal later opened the Sanne Emilienne Moreau Evrard Room at the Consulate General for France in Scotland, Lothian Chambers, Parliament Square, Edinburgh.

Her Royal Highness subsequently attended a Reception at City Chambers, 253 High Street, Edinburgh.

The Princess Royal, Vice-Patron, the British Horse Society, this evening held a Seventieth Anniversary Dinner at Buckingham Palace.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem, this evening attended the Gift of Sight Fair, in aid of the St John of Jerusalem Eye Hospital, at Chelsea Old Town Hall, King’s Road, London SW3, and was received by Lady Arnold (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Duke of Gloucester, Royal Patron, and The Duchess of Gloucester afterwards attended the Annual Trustees’ Dinner at the British Museum, Great Russell Street, London WC1.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Kent, Honorary Fellow, this evening presented the Royal Society of Literature Giles St Aubyn Awards for Non-Fiction, 50 Albemarle Street, London W1.
