COURT CIRCULAR

Buckingham Palace

The following were received in audience by The King this afternoon and kissed hands upon their appointment as His Majesty’s Ambassadors: Dr Martin Longden (Libya), Mr Giles Portman (Romania) and Mr James Squire (the Swiss Confederation and non-resident Ambassador to the Principality of Liechtenstein).

Ms Naomi Adams, Mrs Portman and Mrs Squire were also received by His Majesty.

Mr Barry Lowen was received in audience by The King upon his appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Cameroon.

Mrs Lowen was also received by His Majesty.

Mr Nigel Casey was received in audience by The King and kissed hands upon his appointment as His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation.

Mrs Casey was also received by His Majesty.

The King held a Council at 4.30pm.

There were present: the Rt Hon Penelope Mordaunt MP (Lord President), the Lord True (Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords), the Rt Hon Melvyn Stride MP (Secretary of State for Work and Pensions), the Rt Hon Alexander Chalk MP (Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice) and the Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP.

Mr Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt Hon Penelope Mordaunt MP had an audience of His Majesty before the Council.

The Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, took the Oath of Office and kissed hands on appointment.

The Rt Hon Sir Clive Alderton (Principal Private Secretary to Their Majesties) was in attendance.

Afterwards The King of Bahrain visited The King.

The Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) subsequently had an audience of His Majesty.

The King this evening received a Briefing on Accelerating Partnerships, Action and Delivery to Achieve a Sustainable Future.

The Queen this evening gave a Reception at Clarence House to mark the Thirtieth Anniversary of the Forward Arts Foundation.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

Her Royal Highness, on behalf of His Majesty, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this afternoon.

Kensington Palace

The Prince of Wales this morning met emergency responders at the Blue Light Hub, 3 Thornbury, West Ashland, Milton Keynes, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire (Countess Howe).

The Princess of Wales this morning visited students from the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University at the Allam Sports Centre, Clifton Campus, Nottingham Trent University, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire (Sir John Peace).

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, this afternoon attended the International Council at Missenden Abbey, London Road, Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire.

The Duchess of Edinburgh, Global Ambassador, International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, this morning attended the Trachoma Elimination Conference at the Sheraton Hotel, Taitu Street, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon called upon Mr Abiy Ahmed (Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Presidential Palace, Addis Ababa.

The Duchess of Edinburgh later attended a Reception at the British Embassy, Comoros Street, Addis Ababa, in support of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda.

St James’s Palace

The Princess Royal, Patron, Scots in London Group, this evening attended a Reception at St Columba’s Church of Scotland, Pont Street, London SW1, and was received by Mr Alastair King (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness, Member, afterwards attended a Blue Seal Club Dinner at the Cavalry and Guards Club, 127 Piccadilly, London W1.
