The Duke of Edinburgh, accompanied by the Governor of St Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha (His Excellency Air Commodore Nigel Phillips), this morning officially opened St Helena International Airport before departing for Ascension Island.

His Royal Highness was received later upon arrival at Royal Air Force Ascension Island by His Honour Simon Minshull (Administrator, Ascension Island Government).

The Duke of Edinburgh attended a Reception with representatives of the local community.

His Royal Highness this evening arrived at Royal Air Force Brize Norton from Ascension Island.

Brigadier Alexander Potts was in attendance.
