The King visited Hamworthy Barracks in Poole, Dorset.
The King, Captain General, Royal Marines, later visited Commando Training Centre Royal Marines, Lympstone, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Devon (Mr David Fursdon) and the Commandant General Royal Marines (General Gwyn Jenkins).
The King was received on parade with a Royal Salute and presented Green Berets and The King’s Badge to The King’s Squad, 362 Troop.
Afterwards His Majesty viewed specialist training and met Commando Forces, recruits and instructors, before attending a Reception in the Officers’ Mess with recruits and their families, veterans and charity employees.
By command of The King, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon Her Excellency Ms Saida Muna Tasneem at 28 Queen’s Gate, London SW7, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in London.

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Heritage of London Trust, this afternoon attended the Public Art: Aesthetics in the Public Realm Conference at the Royal Institute of British Architects, 66 Portland Place, London W1.
