COURT CIRCULAR

Balmoral Castle

The King, accompanied by His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Italian Republic and San Marino (His Excellency the Lord Llewellyn of Steep), this morning met those involved in Human Health and Wellbeing, Invasive Species and Conservation, and Urban Forests and Global Change, in the garden of the Ambassador’s Residence in Rome and was received by the Chief Executive Officer of the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance (Dr Marc Palahí) and Professor Giuseppe Scarascia (Chief Scientist).

The King and Queen this afternoon visited the Piazza San Francesco, Ravenna, and were received by His Majesty’s Consul-General for Milan (Mr Kassim Ramji), the President of Emilia-Romagna (Mr Michele de Pascale) and Mr Fabio Sbaraglia (Acting Deputy Mayor of Ravenna).

Their Majesties afterwards visited Dante Alighieri’s Tomb in Ravenna and were received by Ms Silvia Pagliano (Dante Expert and Artistic Director, Teatro delle Albe).

The King subsequently visited the Basilica of St Vitale, Ravenna, and was received by the Archbishop of Ravenna-Cervia (Monsignor Lorenzo Ghizzoni) and Don Alberto Brunelli (Vicar General).

His Majesty toured the Basilica, escorted by Professor Maria Cristina Carile (Professor, University of Bologna) and Mr Federico Marchetti (Chairman, Sustainable Markets Initiative’s Fashion Task Force), viewing mosaics and the presbytery, before visiting the Mausoleum of Galla Placidia.

The King and Queen afterwards drove to the Town Hall, Ravenna, and were received by The President of the Italian Republic and Mrs Laura Mattarella (daughter of The President).

Their Majesties, with His Excellency and Mrs Mattarella, joined an Extraordinary Session of the City Council and subsequently attended a Reception in the pre-Council Chamber.

The King and Queen, with The President of the Italian Republic and Mrs Mattarella, subsequently visited the Piazza del Popolo and met traditional pasta and piadina makers and other food producers and organisations, before viewing a performance of traditional dance.

The Queen, Patron, The Queen’s Reading Room, this afternoon attended a Reception at the Palazzo Guiccioli, Via Camillo Benso Cavour, Ravenna, and was received by Ms Serena Corti (Deputy Consul-General for Ravenna).

Her Majesty subsequently visited the Byron Museum.

The King and Queen afterwards bade farewell to The President of the Italian Republic and Mrs Mattarella upon the conclusion of the State Visit to Italy.

Their Majesties, attended by the Rt Hon Sir Clive Alderton, Mr Theo Rycroft, Mr Tobyn Andreae, Miss Laura Sullivan and Mrs Belinda Kim, this evening arrived at Aberdeen International Airport, Dyce.

St James’s Palace

The Duke of Edinburgh, Chairman, The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation, this morning held a Meeting at St James’s Palace.

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, today held Meetings at St James’s Palace.

The Duke of Edinburgh, Colonel, Scots Guards, this afternoon received Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Radcliffe upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 1st Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel William Tulloch upon assuming the appointment.

His Royal Highness, Patron, GB Snowsport Limited, this evening attended a GB Snowsport Reception at Fortnum and Mason, 181 Piccadilly, London W1.

St James’s Palace

The Princess Royal this morning opened BAE Systems Naval Ships’ Applied Shipbuilding Academy, 1471 South Street, Scotstoun, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Glasgow (Councillor Jacqueline McLaren, the Rt Hon the Lord Provost).

Her Royal Highness, Patron, Sense Scotland, afterwards visited TouchBase Glasgow, 43 Middlesex Street, Glasgow.

The Princess Royal, Royal Patron, Friends of TS Queen Mary, this afternoon attended a Reception at Glasgow Science Centre, 50 Pacific Quay, Glasgow.

Her Royal Highness later visited the Traumatic Brain Injury Unit at the Briar Centre, Strathaven Road, Stonehouse, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Lanarkshire (the Lady Haughey).

The Princess Royal, Patron, Columba 1400, this evening held a Twenty Fifth Anniversary Dinner at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Homeopathy UK, this morning officially opened the new clinic at Feldy Community Centre, 18 Aberfeldy Square, London E14.

His Royal Highness, Patron, Richard III Society, this afternoon received Ms Amanda Geary (Chairman) and Mrs Philippa Langley (Deputy Chairman).

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Richard III Society, this evening attended the book launch of “the Ricardian Century — a History of the Richard III Society” at the College of Arms, 130 Queen Victoria Street, London EC4.

The Duchess of Gloucester, Royal President, the Children’s Society, this afternoon visited Time for Young People, 517-519 Barking Road, London E13, and was received by Mr Kim Bromley-Derry (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Her Royal Highness afterwards attended a Concert given by the East London School of Music to mark its Tenth Anniversary, at Clapton Community Seventh-day Adventist Church, Chelmer Road, London E9, and was received by Mr Stephen Howlett (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).
