The King and Queen left Royal Air Force Brize Norton this morning for the Royal Visit to Canada.
Their Majesties were received at the Air Station by the Lord Benyon (Lord Chamberlain), His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Oxfordshire (Mrs Marjorie Glasgow) and the High Commissioner of Canada (His Excellency the Hon Ralph Goodale).
The King and Queen arrived at Ottawa/Macdonald-Cartier International Airport this afternoon and were received by the Governor-General of Canada (the Rt Hon Mary Simon), the Prime Minister of Canada (the Rt Hon Mark Carney) and the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario (the Hon Edith Dumont).
Their Majesties drove to Lansdowne Park and were received by the Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture (the Hon Steven Guilbeault MP) and the Mayor of Ottawa (Mr Mark Sutcliffe).
The King and Queen visited the Farmers’ Market before visiting the hockey rink and the Horticulture Building, and meeting members of community organisations.
Later the Governor-General was received in audience by His Majesty at Rideau Hall.
The Prime Minister of Canada was received in audience by The King.
The King, accompanied by The Queen, held a Council at 4.25pm.
There was present: Mr Kenneth MacKillop (Secretary to the Governor-General and Herald Chancellor).
The Queen was sworn in as a member of His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council in Canada.
Mr John Hannaford was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.
His Majesty afterwards attended a Reception at Rideau Hall with Lieutenant Governors and Territorial Commissioners.
The following are in attendance: the Rt Hon Sir Clive Alderton, Mrs Muna Shamsuddin, Mr Tobyn Andreae, Mrs Colette Saunders, Miss Phoebe Goodwin, Mr Graham Midgley, Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Thompson, Mrs Sophia Densham and Mr Donald Booth (Canadian Secretary to The King).
The President of Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (Angajuqgaaq (Chief) Natan Obed) was received by The King this afternoon.
The National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations (Chief Cindy Woodhouse Nepinak) was received by His Majesty.
The President of the Métis National Council (President Victoria Pruden) was received by The King.
