Windsor Castle

The King held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

The winners of the Defence Operational Shooting Competition were received by His Majesty this afternoon and presented with The King’s Medal.

Captain Tarjan Gurung, The Royal Gurkha Rifles, and Captain Jagatram Rai, The Queen’s Gurkha Signals, were received by The King when His Majesty invested them with the Insignia of Members of the Royal Victorian Order.

Major David Walker (Chief of Staff, Brigade of Gurkhas) was present.

The President of the Republic of Paraguay visited The King.

The Queen, Patron, Children’s Hospice South West, this morning visited Little Bridge Hospice, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, and was received by Mr Nicholas Powe (Deputy Lieutenant of Devon).

Her Majesty this afternoon visited HMS Astute to mark the end of the Submarine’s first commission, and afterwards joined an HMS Astute Garden Party at His Majesty’s Naval Base, Devonport, Plymouth, Devon.

The Queen was presented with a Burgee, to mark Her Majesty’s appointment as Vice Admiral of the United Kingdom, at HMS Drake, His Majesty’s Naval Base, Devonport.

By command of The King, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr Miguel Berger at 23 Belgrave Square, London SW1, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Federal Republic of Germany to the Court of St James’s.

Major Jeremy Fern (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London) was present at Heathrow Airport this morning upon the Arrival of The President of the Republic of Maldives and welcomed His Excellency on behalf of The King.

St James’s Palace

The Princess Royal this morning received an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Huddersfield, Queensgate, Huddersfield, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire (Mr Edmund Anderson).

Her Royal Highness, President, British Olympic Association, this afternoon received Sir Hugh Robertson upon relinquishing his appointment as Chairman and the Baroness Grainger upon assuming the appointment.

The Princess Royal, Senior Colonel, Household Division, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening took the salute at the Household Division Beating Retreat on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.

Her Royal Highness, President, accompanied by Admiral Laurence, later attended a Dinner at the Naval and Military Club, 4 St James’s Square, London SW1.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, President, Greenwich Foundation, this morning visited the University of Greenwich School of Architecture, 10 Stockwell Street, London SE10, and was received by Mr Matthew Burrow (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

His Royal Highness, President, Greenwich Foundation, afterwards visited the Old Royal Naval College, London SE10.

The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon attended a Luncheon at the White House, Crooms Hill, London SE10.

His Royal Highness, Patron, the Commonwealth and Gurkha Garden, later visited St George’s Garrison Church, Woolwich, London SE18, and was received by Dr Mary-Clare Parker (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary Liveryman, the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers, this evening attended a Reception at Vintners’ Hall, 68 Upper Thames Street, London EC4, to celebrate the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the grant of Livery to the Company and the Fiftieth Anniversary of the Basketmakers’ Association and was received by Colonel Simon Duckworth (a Lieutenant of the City of London).
