Balmoral Castle

The King this morning attended the Society of Caithness Artists’ Ninetieth Annual Exhibition at University of the Highlands and Islands’ Thurso Campus, Ormlie Road, Thurso, and was received by His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Caithness (the Viscount Thurso) and the Chairman of the Society (Mr Ian Pearson).

His Majesty viewed exhibits and met exhibiting artists.

The King, having been received by the Chief Executive of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (Mr David Peattie) and the Deputy Harbour Master of Scrabster Harbour (Mr Ross Farquhar), afterwards attended a Reception at Fish Market Hall, Jubilee Pier, Scrabster Harbour, Thurso, given by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority to mark the Seventieth Anniversary of the Dounreay Nuclear site, the Fiftieth Anniversary of Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited and the Twentieth Anniversary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

His Majesty met the crew of PACIFIC HERON and local representatives of the nuclear industry.

By command of The King, Mr Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon Her Excellency Mrs Marie Chatardova at 26 Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8, today in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as Ambassador from the Czech Republic to the Court of St James’s.
