Her Royal Highness afterwards visited the Metropolitan Police Service Special Escort Group Headquarters, 20 Maltby Street, London SE1, and was received by Colonel Simon Duckworth (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

The Princess Royal, Chancellor, University of the Highlands and Islands, later received Professor Clive Mulholland upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice-Chancellor and Professor Crichton Lang upon assuming the appointment.

Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, National Coastwatch Institution, this evening attended a Twenty Fifth Anniversary Reception, the Corporation of Trinity House, Tower Hill, London EC3.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon opened Banchory Sports Village, Provost Webster Road, Banchory, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Kincardineshire (Mrs Roderick Kinghorn).

Her Majesty presented The Queen’s Gold Medal for Academic Excellence at King Edward VII Academy, King’s Lynn, to Arminas Bartkus, who was introduced into Her Majesty’s presence by Ms Sarah Hartshorn, the Principal.

The Prince of Wales this morning arrived at Muscat International Airport and was received by Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman (His Excellency Mr Hamish Cowell).

His Royal Highness, on behalf of The Queen, this afternoon paid his Condolences at the Al Alam Palace, Muscat, following the death of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said.

The Prince of Wales this evening arrived in the United Kingdom from Oman.

Today being the Feast of the Epiphany, a Sung Eucharist was held in the Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, when the customary offerings of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh were made on behalf of The Queen by Air Commodore Malcolm Fuller and Major General Matthew Sykes (Gentlemen Ushers to Her Majesty).

The Bishop of London (Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal) was the Celebrant and presented the Offerings, assisted by the Reverend Canon Paul Wright (Sub-Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal), the Reverend Richard Bolton (Priest in Ordinary) and the Reverend Canon Thomas Woodhouse (Deputy Priest in Ordinary).

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty in the Chapel.
