The Queen arrived at Castle Cary Railway Station this morning and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset (Mrs Richard Maw).
Her Majesty drove to Manor Farm Stables, Ditcheat, and was received by the Joint Yard Owners (Mr and Mrs Paul Barber).
The Queen toured the Stables, escorted by Mr Paul Nicholls (Trainer), and viewed horses being paraded, before meeting representatives from the University of Bath working on research projects on equestrian sport spinal injuries and racehorse welfare and subsequently meeting stable lads, lasses, the vet and the blacksmith.
Her Majesty afterwards visited King’s Bruton School, the Plox, Bruton, and was received by Brigadier David Godsal (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset), the Senior Warden (Lieutenant General Anthony Palmer) and Mr Ian Wilmshurst (Headmaster).
The Queen moved to the Music School and, escorted by the Headmaster, met pupils and teachers before viewing a choir performance in the Recital Hall and officially opening The Queen Elizabeth Music School.
Her Majesty was subsequently entertained to Luncheon in the Memorial Hall by the Senior Warden.
The Queen, Patron, this afternoon met members of the Royal Bath and West of England Society in the Basil Wright Building.
Her Majesty afterwards moved on to the lawn and was received by Ms Susan Mountstevens (Police and Crime Commissioner) before naming a new Avon and Somerset Police horse.
The Queen later visited Hauser and Wirth Gallery, Durslade Farm, Dropping Lane, Bruton, and was received by Joint Presidents (Mr and Mrs Iwan Wirth).
The Duke of Cambridge, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.
