Buckingham Palace

The Princess Royal this afternoon opened the Veolia Battlefield Energy Recovery Facility, Battlefield Enterprise Park, Vanguard Way, Shrewsbury, and was received by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire (Sir Algernon Heber-Percy).

Her Royal Highness, President, Carers Trust, later visited Shropshire Carers Service “Carers Trust 4all”, Unit 12, Tilstock Crescent, Sutton Farm, Shrewsbury.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, this evening attended the Vice Presidents’ Reception and Dinner at the Royal Society, 6-9 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1, and was received by Professor David Phoenix (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

Prince Henry of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, this afternoon joined the Endeavour Fund Awards Ceremony Judging Panel at Kensington Palace.

The Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich preached the Sermon.

The Queen presented The Queen Elizabeth Prize for Academic Excellence at Springwood High School, King’s Lynn, to Toby Hoare, who was introduced into Her Majesty’s presence by Mr Andrew Johnson, the Headmaster.

The Queen has been pleased to appoint the Reverend Canon Dr Mark Pryce and the Reverend Canon Dr Georgina Byrne to be Chaplains to Her Majesty in succession to the Reverend Canon George Moffat and the Reverend Canon Gillian Calver.

Today being the Feast of the Epiphany, a Sung Eucharist was held in the Chapel Royal, St. James’s Palace, when the customary offerings of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh were made on behalf of The Queen by Commodore Laurie Hopkins RN and Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Matheson of Matheson, yr (Gentlemen Ushers to Her Majesty).

The Bishop of London (Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal) was the Celebrant and presented the Offerings, assisted by the Reverend Canon Paul Wright (Sub-Dean of Her Majesty’s Chapels Royal) and the Reverend Richard Bolton and the Reverend William Whitcombe (Priests in Ordinary).

The Queen’s Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty in the Chapel.

By command of The Queen, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Victor Emmanuel Smith at 13 Belgrave Square, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana in London.
